[Breaking] ATF moving onto AR Pistols as AOWs/SBRs

Did you read it? It states "for import". Read through the thread that already exists on this one.
Military Arms Channel has word from Guns & Gadgets that says otherwise. "Any braced AR/AK or similar type weapons" will be subject to tax stamp under NFA. Imported ones are also mentioned and were the hot topic last week but it appears now that they're aiming to all of them.

From the release.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has recently changed the manner in which it interprets the statutory and regulatory definition of “handgun,” thereby further limiting the types of firearms eligible for importation.

I'm not getting my news from Youtube. It's bad enough there isn't anything official out there to support this, but I'm definitely not taking the work of a chicken little video maker without irrefutable proof.

Gotta get those likes and subscription numbers up somehow. That’s how you take in the toob dollars. But, the NRA pioneered fear mongering to their base decades ago. These youtube “gun news” channels are poor imitations...

ATF issued a 60 day "stay", whatever that is worth- However, ATF is under Barr's Justice Dept. So he needs to step in sort them the fuck out. Which he can easily do if he feels so inclined. Does he ? Who knows.
So angermail him.

Well put.

These YT’ers are worse than the media. They rush to print and it’s a one person decision. Tim
From MAC started it, now EVERYONE is rushing to get their “clicks” and just putting out garbage. They KNOW it too “this information could change” oh whatever.

Pistol Braces are for the Karen’s of the gun community

Guess I'm a "Karen" then.... I love my braced 12.5" 6.8 SPC. Fantastic hog and deer gun. Braces make it much easier, don't have to look into whether I'm breaking the law or not if I want to cross a state line to go hunting, or go through the red tape of moving an SBR across state lines.

That’s a presser from one of the biggest industry lawyers. That is proof.

It'll be interesting to see what direction the ATF takes after the 60 day hold on Q comes up if they will reverse their course or issue an official clarification on their interpretation of the law. Get those letters out to your representatives folks.

Read the last two words of the release again. Then read them again. I'm not sure that "for importation" can be any more clear. Exactly what part of "for importation" is anyone having a problem understanding? Am I the only one seeing " for importation"? Am I wrong to assume that " for importation" means products to be imported into the US? Can someone please explain what "for importation" means? I'm apparently missing something.

Mass non-compliance sounds like a fine option to me.

And as soon as the fudd at the range asks you if that’s legal because he’s annoyed of “rapid succession of shots” that’s when you say, “Sorry boomer, we're not going to concede like your generation.

Some of the boomers have not conceded anything.

Did you personally concede bump stocks?

Why hasn't somebody sued the fuckin ATF yet?

They're an agency of the executive branch meant to ENFORCE the law as it pertains to alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives.

Last I checked it was the legislative branch that passed new laws that might restrict or loosen restrictions on citizens.

Pretty sure it's the job of the judicial branch to interpret the laws as they're written and ensure nobody is prosecuted for something that violates their rights or doesn't fit the scenario it's being applied to.

So why in unholy fuck do we continue to allow an executive agency to pretend it has legislative and judiciary powers?

Who gives a shit what their 'definition' says in a given week. They're just pissed people found a workaround. Don't like it? Pass a fucking law or fucking fuck off... ya fuckin' fucks.

Chip Roy introduced legislation to remove the AOW clause from the NFA forever. To prevent the ATF from using the AOW clause should the SBR/SBS clause ALSO be removed in the future. Sounds like they're planning on seeing how this goes, and then maybe after the midterms (if all goes like it SHOULD), they must be planning on introducing legislation to also remove the SBR/SBS laws as well. 🤷🏼 Barrel length laws are retarded anyway, so I sure hope so.

Cool but these jerk offs really need to submit stuff like this when the republicans have control of congress, or it needs to be inserted into some random bill much like is the case with researching non-conforming transgender tree frog mating practices.

While I would never encourage anybody to break the law, I have been shooting NFA stuff in PA, MD and VA for almost 20 years now and have yet to see an example of where myself or somebody has been asked for paperwork, so I really don't think it matters what the ATF wants to do as they don't enforce any of this stuff on an individual level. Its the same stuff with 922 R, its something that nobody really cares about that is enforced with the same regularity as a 100 year flood.
