Re: Bridgeport Pics Good/Bad deal?
A) To test mill spindle bearings, I put a .5000" pin gauge in a 1/2" R8 collet and measure the run out as I manually turn the spindle with a test indicator on a magnetic base, set on the mill table.
Then I push and pull radially as hard as I can on the pin gauge with my fingers while looking at the test indicator.
I want all the measurements to be less than .001".
B) If you take the quill out of a mill, be careful. It is heavy, the table is hard, and fingers are soft and sensitive.
