I have an extra Brigand Arms Edge 13-ish" (See measurement in pics) AR Handguard. Was on an AR for about 4 range trips. Excellent conidtion - can't see anything that isn't like new. Ultralightweight, and surprisingly sturdy. I thought the way these are constructed that they might be a little flimsy, but they are not. $250 shipped and insured. It is surprisingly strong for how it looks and is designed. I haven't tried driving over it with a truck or anything, but have shot it off a rest, and offhand, and no flex in it that I could tell.

Pretty well. The carbon fiber has an epoxy (or epoxy-ish, not positive on the material) coating, which I suspect boosts the strength. It kind of feels like waxed string? But it is a pretty open pattern, so it won't ever be like grease on glass, no matter the material/prep.
