Had a broken Pod Lock, just curious, is there a way to avoid this? I want to make sure Im not doing something wrong on my end that broke it.

No.
KMW made a special run with alloy handles, but the G2 version does not have them. Ive spoken to Terry about them and he told me this. Yes is possible to break the G2 version, but the handle will fail before you damage the internal parts/bipod/mount. You could continue to function, just with a really short lever. The alloy ones were strong enough to break internal parts or rip out the hardware that mounts the bipod to the rifle. The G2 PODLOC is less likly to break than the old ones, but will still snap when it should. Like a pop-off valve.....

The PodLoc lever is "sacrificial". If it takes an impact, it breaks. This saves the bipod mechanism. If it breaks I would much rather have a short lever than a damaged bipod.

I've learned this over the last year or so... The podloc, if placed in the wrong position on a barricade will get broken... To me, this is a wear item, that's why I keep 2 spares just in case...

The new generation handles will take a lot of abuse and still flex enough to not damage the bipod under most circumstances, including barricades.
Actually, the old handles would too. It was only the 1,200 or so handles that got out of here without the 30% glass fill in the plastice that had issues.
Either way, the kits all carry lifetime warranties and are replaced at no cost to the owner.
As stated in other threads before, if you want cheap, go straight to J.W.Winco and McMaster Carr for imported levers. That is where T-nuts gets theirs.

Amazing how the world works...
After posting this morning about how I keep from breaking my knobs, I went and shot a match. Halfway through I thought the biopd was a little loose so I went to tighten it up a hair and-no knob!!
I don't know if this one was light on the glass fill (got it maybe 12-14 months ago).
Seeing the scratched metal on the bipod I think I can say I hit something harder than I thought, and don't expect a free replacement, but would like to buy one if I can. Terry-I'll try to get a hold of you after SHOT, I'm sure you're a busy guy this week.

And just an update,
KMW had another setup on the way within 24hrs even though I told Terry I wanted to pay for it he wouldn't hear of it.

1) Received my replacement loc today, Terry is a good guy to deal with. This model is slightly different than the last one. He got it out quickly too.
2) See photo below... The original loc broke on a rifle with out a sling, now that I have this replacement put on the HS stock, I am worried the sling swivel is going to put too much pressure on the loc when carrying. This rifle weighs a ton so I don't want to put too much stress on the top of that lever. The original loc was on a rifle that was much lighter.

Lets see for $6 you get a Dead Nuts unit. I have a bipod at the house that has one of these on it that came on a rifle from the PX here been waiting on my next brownells order to replace. I also have at least 5 of the Pod Lock units and there is not comparison. I think they were $15-$20 each and are quality kit.
As seen here if you break the PL unit, its a safe bet that you will get a replacement for nothing or next to nothing. If you break the Dead Nutz unit, well looks like your going to maybe need a new bipod cause I am sure you will break something on the bipod/stock before you break that handle. Something I learned with my Nitro powered RC car, When you start replacing things with Aluminum the next part down the line breaks which is generally more expensive that just buying the first part a couple of times.
I dont skimp when it comes to my rifles and most of the peeps on this site are the same way. When you spend $5k+ on a stick setup for LR another $20 seems like chicken scratch.

sawman556- I suspect you know that the Atlas has preload tension, the Tension knob on the bottom when rotated in direction of the arrow adds to this tension. What we here is people want more leverage.
But as I understand it the Harris Podloc set-up will also loosen with use as well. Is this your experience?

Just my observations. I know there are several ways to attach slings. That stock looks to have a double stud. Even though it has a two studs, doesn't mean you have to use it. I had a setup similar. I just removed the rear stud and attached the sling to the bipod. You can leave the stud in there and if the other stud breaks in the field you will have a back up. Maybe I am wrong. It would not be the first time being wrong.
