Hey I just joined the Hide so I hope I do this right. Has any one had a problem with 35mm Vortex rings? I put mine on my new 260 GAP and one broke when I tightened it down! I have sent them back, but do I need to be worried in the future?
What part of the ring broke? I'm assuming the crossbolt? Also, what was the inch pounds in which you torqued it because I'm just going to go ahead and call this user error. You probably just torqued it more than you were supposed to, and you need to get a torque wrench. If this isn't the case, Vortex will get you going again regardless.
If so, they are made for Vortex by Seekins Precision. Glen is a member here under the user name of heatseekins. You can find him on the user list, and PM him with any questions or concerns, regarding his rings.
When you tightened them down did you use a torque wrench, that was set at no more than 55 inch pounds.
They usually are bomb proof, you just can't torque the shit out of them, and they will last for a very long time. I have some Badger Ordnance M40A3's that I am certain will never fail, but I'm still not going to torque the screws past their functioning limits.
Ninetode shit happens. Probably wasn't your fault if it was just past snug. Might have just been a bad piece. It happens. Vortex will take care of you and get it replaced. Sounds like the older rings and not the new Seekins.

Make sure it's an INCH POUND torque wrench. Standard torque wrenches work in foot pounds.
