I received my new barrel in the mail yesterday. At the muzzel end of the barrel there was a sticker on the barrel that read cut 2" minimum off of muzzel end. So my question is why do have to cut aleast 2" off of the barrel?
Maybe for muzzle brake. Cut off 2", thread the 2" piece and barrel to reinstalled without seam..... This is my best edumacated theory. I'm sure someone with vast more knowledge than I have will chime in with the right answer..
To allow for the Lapping Bell, basically the point at which the abrasive imbedded lead lap changed direction during the lapping process, and is generally discarded due to being oversized.
The barrel is lapped by hand. The last inch or so on each end will be oversized. Taking 2" is a bit more than usually needed, but would make sure you were back to good dimensions.
