Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

One billion mags behind? I hope there are an extra three zeroes in there. Otherwise, with 3.7M AR15's in circulation today, each person who owns one ordered another 270 mags per rifle from Magpul.

Source for AR15's: (yes, it's a rough estimate) http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20121222/NEWS02/712229941

I also have some of their standard USGI mags w/ CS springs on the list, but those are 123,000 backordered still.

are those numbers customers or mags? I assume mags.

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

STILL haven't heard anything on the .308 mags, placed 23rd Dec. They say they are trying to fill them all this month, but I'm not feeling it. I hope I get 'em soon though, these are the LAST magazines I'll need (well, I could use a few more Glock mags, I miscounted there and the company I went with fucked up my order).

Those Brownell's USGI mags are the new 3rd gen ones, they are all I use. They just started selling them to civilians recently. There are or were a TON of contract overruns floating around (how I got all mine cheap).

The number contested above is 1million. It is in relation to a story about how (Magpul?) received 1million orders in x amount of time, and that they sold 3+ years worth of mags in 72 hours. Not sure if that is all Magpul themselves or with respect to a dealer.

So I called them and they told me that their order processing system got screwed up and older orders were not filled so I guess I am SOL and still waiting even though I put my order in all the way back in November (the day after the election)

It is indeed one MILLION, not one billion (but that's still just a crazily huge number to be back-ordered on for magazines). Here is a link to where Ed's made the claim: http://www.edsgunshop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5911

There's even worse information for reloaders in that thread; primers just became the new unobtanium. Whoopee...

Could it be that the Gen3 mags have still not been received and are on Back-Order? My order is still listed as, NOT IN STOCK AT THIS TIME.

I'm patiently waiting.

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

I did not receive any email updates, but when I checked today one of my 12/19 backorders changed to "Being Picked". I am hoping that means good things to come...

Gotta wonder how many Pmags they can pump out at max capacity in 24 hours, I would venture to assume a few thousand.

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

Ordered 10 Pack of Brownells CS on 12/21 Shipped 1/24
Ordered 5 Pack Black 308 PMags on 12/21 - No ETA on Shipping
Ordered 10 Pack Black Non-Window Gen2 PMags on 12/21 - No ETA on shipping.

Am I correct that people who have ordered PMags later in December into January having been receiving their orders?

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

Strykervet unrelated to pmags and Brownells I had the same issue with my G19 and P226 I randomly went to Top Gun Supply and asked to be notified when they received shipments I got an email yesterday for the G19, those shipped last night and I got some P226 last week (The Sig Mags were Mec Gar) They have a limit of two but two is better than none.

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

I just received 20 that were ordered on 12/19. I have my kids burrying them in the backyard as we speak

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

Just got this from Brownells:

"We want to thank everyone for your patience with us. Thanks especially to those of you who told us orders were being delivered "out of cycle." We’ve been in business an awfully long time and are proud of our reputation for great service, so we had to find out what was going on.

And we found the problem. Simple really. About 15 years ago we put in place system logic prioritizing a few back orders ahead of others. It was a rare situation, but necessary at the time and under normal market conditions back then, those reasons made sense.

Then the world changed, and back orders ballooned into the thousands – literally – and our system and the vendor’s ability to keep up just broke that logic. About 300 orders were moved to the head of the line under the old system logic, and had their orders shipped ahead of where they should have been in line. It moved all the rest of you back about 300 places in line – which, rightfully so, caused an uproar.

When we found the problem, we immediately disabled this logic, truly resuming our first in first out policy. The real problem is that demand is far greater than any factory’s ability to quickly catch up.

The good news is we have cured the broken system logic; thanks for telling us. We are shipping in order received, and handling your orders the way we have always tried to – honestly, fairly, and with everything right on top of the table."

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

WOW the sun does shine on a dogs ass once and a while. I got mine that I ordered in Jan. Sorry to all those I got skipped over.

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

I also received the "oops we shipped orders out of order" e-mail from Brownell's.

My order was placed on 12/24, and processed electronically on 12/26. I'm still waiting to receive a notice of the items shipping. Rest assured, I was not one of the lucky ones.

I'm waiting on windowed PMAG black 30-rounders.

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

Well, 12/23 and still waiting... I called today and the lady said there are about 34,000 backordered .308 mags. I'm hoping I'm earlier in line...

In the meantime, I found this video today when I did a search, it cracked me up. The shit people come up with.

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

Report from Guns & Ammo

S&W: Running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.

RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days.

FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1.

Remington: Maxed out!

Armalite: Maxed out.

DPMS: Can’t get enough parts to produce any more product.

COLT: Production runs increasing weekly...bottle necked by lack of bolt carrier’s.

LWRC: Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can’t get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.

Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.

AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/over 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.

MAGPUL: Behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon.

RELOADERS: ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra’s for reloading purposes... it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted...

Related commentary from Bob Owens:

They didn’t know when they’d be getting anything back in stock, from magazines to rifles to pistols. Manufacturers are running full-bore, but can’t come close to keeping up with market demand. It isn’t just the AR-15s, the AK-pattern rifles, the M1As, and the FALs that are sold out. It really hit me when I realized that the World War-era M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, and Enfield .303s are gone, along with every last shell. Ubiquitous Mosin-Nagants—of which every gun store always seemed to have 10-20—are gone. So is their ammo. Only a dust free space marked their passing. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years is gone. This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.

Barack Obama, Dianne Feinstein and the rest of the Statists have done more to promote gun ownership than the NRA ever did. Well done, Democrats!

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

Thats an email I received from a friend the other day outlining the current firearm and ammo condition.

Oh and the email stated PMAG is currently backed up by 1,000,000 mags. Whatever that means.

these were brownells house brand. i ordered another variety of steel mags, 10 non windowed pmags. at this point on the site they had restricted all sales to black non windowed as they said magpul had restricted all production to that flavor to meet overall demand. and i back ordered a 10 pack of 308 pmags too. all on or within days of 12/26

i just got a 10 pack of windowed black pmags for $125 from a place someone posted on here and i back ordered and that was faster than brownells

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

Last week my account that had previously showed my order went blank. I called them to see what was up and the nice lady on the phone said they had a computer glitch but she could see my order and it was still in their system. I ordered 20 5.56 30 round non window pmags on the 24th. When I asked about how much longer she was thinking she kind of laughed and said it could be a while. I don't really need them but if I were to get them and someone from CO needed them to get grandfathered in, I'd happily trade orders with you or sell them for cost.

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

today i got a shipping notice on 10 non windowed pmags @ 15.00 each. i still have 10 308 pmags coming sometime in the future and 10 more usgi mags as well. all ordered on or about 12/26/12

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

Look at what the Geeks over at Barf.com created. It's an order tracker that is based off previous orders originating date and ship date. It's not run by Brownells so it's un-scientific but it may help or in my case creates more questions than answers.

http://test.jonathancarrico.com/brownells/

Click on Looking for previous entries? View them Here then filter accordingly. P

They didnt have a second (or even third) shift already rolling?

Kinda wondering what's up with my order from 12/20. Seems like some, including Axe above are receiving orders placed after mine for the same stuff.

Re: Brownell's Pmag Backorders?

I have an order for M3 AR15 mags from 12/21 and an order for 20LR 308 mags from 12/28. I've gotten nothing. DSG was the place to go to backorder Magpul products. I've gotten multiple orders from them.

crazy think the people on here are a small % of who has ordered too. everyone in the same boat just unreal

and the guns and ammo info is just as crazy ! billion rounds produced a week. just shows kind of whats really going on and how the government even knows something bad is going to happen

And, with Magpul threatening to leave Colorado if the magazine legislation passes there, production will likely be severely disrupted for several months as they move and get settled in their new environment.
