I got drawn for cow elk this fall and have been looking around at used guns to pick up. I will only be using the gun for one season and then selling it before I move next year, so purchase price vs resale value is important. I already have a set of 270 dies so I was planning on picking up a used Savage in 270 for cheap, but I just ran across a Browning BAR in 270 for $400. I am more of a bolt gun guy with one AR in my arsenal so I have no experience with them. How is the accuracy? Do you think that is a good value? The gun had some blueing wear, but no major damage for a typical hunting rifle. I thought about posting this in the Semi-Auto forum, but figured on this website the Hunting section may have more experience with the model. Thanks for any input.

Re: Browning BAR

I owned a couple BAR's in 7mm Rem Mag. They were hell on Elk and I would hunt with one again. They are amazing for quick followup shots and were great for hunting. You won't get bench rest size grouping and mine was about 1 1/2" with hunting ammo.

Re: Browning BAR

Thanks for the comment. I would be handloading so I could probably do a little better if that was factory ammo you were using. Plus I don't plan to shoot over about 350-400 yards, so if I can keep it within 1.5 MOA I should still be inside the kill zone of an elk at that distance.
