Talk about an injustice happening in Ireland today.

A good buddy of mine that I was in the army with got 7 years today in ireland for shooting 2 home invaders.

2 years ago now nearly he confronted a masked intruder in his kids bedroom when his kids were asleep in bed. He double tapped this shithead... 2nd bad guy jumped on him from behind and managed to get his weapon away from him..Luckily the weapon jammed as he couldnt use it.. Bad guy goes from my buddy's wife with a knife who was screaming. Buddy stabbed him 13 times and this fucking prick actually lived...

The cops didnt want to press charges but the Director of Public prosecutions brought charges stating my buddy had used unreasonable force when attempting to subdue second intruder. He was convicted this morning of serious assault causing harm to second guy, despite him admitting to the court that he has 76 previous convictions , some for aggravated burglary and assault... My mates wife is now 6 months pregnant.. She is in pieces.. We are all in shock.... What a travesity of justice... Nobody thought he would be convicted....

Over here a person found guilty of an offense has the right to address the court before sentencing... he told the judge the only thing he did was protect his wife and kids and given the opportunity the one mistake he wouldnt make again was to make sure he killed the second guy... Lawyers are appealing the sentence......

Your absolutely right we do have it good here and we need to be diligent about keeping those rights. My prayers go out to your friend and his family for the injustice that was served to him. TGM

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Eddieo, I hear you there.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away, and yet we're not allowed to do anything for ourselves. That's freedom, eh?

Very Very similar laws here in Canada.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

In Arizona the second shithead would have been charged with first degree murder for the killing of his partner, even though your friend did the deed, under the Felony Murder rule.... Time to emigrate my friend....

You'll have to explain as I don't see what the Tucson shooting has to do with this, and Boehner has already stated no gun control effort will be brought to the floor?

Easier said then done.... one person can't make that happen. You would have to have the support of many in your community. Sounds to me like wishful thinking at this day in age.

Good luck to your friend. Hope he gets out of it. If they can punish you for protecting your family from intruders what is next?

Happends here too, friend...mabey not in Ok., but shoot some one in Mass. or another liberal state and look out. Even here in Virginia, generally thought of as a Gun state, technically, if confronted in yuor home, you have the right to flee. I think that in your buddy's case that would be set aside in favor of the {fear for my life", but shit, if I found somebody in my kids room at night, he would wish i just shot him. good luck toyour friend....prayers are with him.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Here after his conviction, he would be facing civil charges and the legal fees and probable jury award would bankrupt your mate and his family

Y'all should move here...welcome anytime..Irish Need apply.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

you would assume the second subject disarming him would lead a "resonable" person to believe his intentions were to in turn use leathal force on your friend. If the weapon was jammed and the 2nd subject admitted to having knowlage of the weapon being jammed, he would have had to attempted to use said weapon automaticlly showing his intentions of using leathal force. In turn you frined would be justified in stabbing the second subject. Without knowing anything about the second subject it would be reasonable to assume he had some sort of firearms training or would get lucky given the proper amount of time to succesfully clear the weapon malfunction.

Best of Luck to your friend. Sounds like he needs a better attorney.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

I'd like a link to read up on this travesty. Surely This has made the Irish blogoshere. Eddio, could you give up a few particulars so we might research this more throughly?

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Any reasonable MAN would defend his family in a most prejudicial way with tooth, nail, fist, feet, claw, knife or gun. If gun is taken away and knife comes to play then a reasonable man will at this point become extremely unreasonable due to the over rush of adreneline because he has been disarmed and is fighting for his life. If he stabs the second miscreant who so sorely deserves every bit of it, then that is the mark of a reasonable man who is fighting for his and his family's LIFE

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

spoke to his wife a little while ago.. appeal is going in but looks like he will be spending some time in custody awaiting possible bail application. I cant believe it... im going to speak to his lawyer tomorrow and see if I CAN DO ANYTHING... Dont know what i can do but im offering anyway... going to sit down with the lads in the next few days and see if we can get some kind of campaign going. we got lots of gun friendly journalists here. need to do this right first time so we dont make matters worse...

14 years service, honourable discharge, citations for bravery, 5 overseas tours,,, no previous convictions and it all counted for nothing.....

You guys in the states just remember what Im saying here now...

PROTECT YOUR RIGHTS AND DONT LET THIS FUCKING PC BULLSHIT GET A FOOTHOLD IN YOUR STATES... THIS WAS MY MATE TODAY, IT COULD BE ANYONE OF YOU IN THE USA TOMORROW... BE AFRAID. AND BE VERY CAUTIOUS.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Tragic story, hope your friend wins on appeal. Just remember, there but for the grace of God goes the US. This is why we need to worry about the direction the country is going.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Could you give us a name, either your buddy or the attackers? The town inwhich it happened?
I cant find anything like what you mention, but did find where this summer past the castle doctrine was passed in Ireland. Appears a fellow was convicted of shooting an intruder, Nally, and by public outcry he was set free. The new law protecting the use of deadly force by the homeowners is a result.

So Eddio, if you would, a name or two?

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Eddieo when the journalists publish this story please post the link so we can help spread the word. This is truly an injustice that everyone should be made aware of.

It reminds me of what happened to Tony Martin in the UK. Unfortunately Martin still ended up having to serve a three year sentence while the surviving dirtbag tried suing him for compensation.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

I can believe this and it brings such an anger and saddness to my sense of justice-what type of fucking liberal wankers are we "all" letting ourselves be run by ??? This is what happens when a Governement thinks it is there to run the people and not there to work for the voice of the people .Your friend being sent down is just plain and simple WRONG!

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Really sorry to hear about your friend eddieo, I hope somebody somewhere in the legal system over there actually wakes up and remembers what justice was actually all about and then is willing to help do the right thing.

If you wind up starting a collection to help him / his wife out let me know.

+ 1

His family is suffering enough without being in a financial bind because of this. Keep us posted. I'll help.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

If he makes bail, he should research extradition laws between there and the US and maybe think about a quick little trip over here with his family. I kind of doubt that INTERPOL would spend a lot of time looking for him here. He would be the kind of illegal immigrant we need more of.

Very sorry for your friend, I had a friend in the US this year receive 17 years for shooting some one who attacked him while he was walking his dog.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Sorry to hear that like everyone else has already said. I wish him well with his appeal and I hope that justice is served properly. I would have done the same exact thing as he has done only like he said I would have finished it.

The US isnt much better though if you look around. If you don't go to jail you get sued for everything you have in a "wrongful death" case so you may as well go to jail...

It is a crazy world out there...

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

And if that was to happen to that judge, he/she would have done the same shit. Its rediculous, if someone breaks in your house you should be able to cut one limb off at a time if you want. How are they going to fear breaking in a mans home if he cant even defend himself and his family. The US isnt too far from this crap. And obama is against guns....wahoo.. we're on our way to the shitter too, not just ireland.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Managed to see him at the prison this morning with his wife.

Thankfully he has no regrets about his actions and again stated the only mistake he made was not ensuring he didnt finish the other SOB off definitively... We got a few things cooking that should cause maximum publicity in Ireland quite soon. As he didnt get prosecuted for the shooting of the first shithead it was a case of serious assault causing harm on the second prick.

I would ask you all a small favor. Im going to keep this close to our chests for a few more days.. When we are ready to go I will forward you all on the names and the circumstances. Would you all send the details to any newspapers in your localities/States/Cities, particularly those in Gun friendly states.. We dont want a drip feed of information coming out but for it all to hit the internet/media at one time..

A buddy of mine gave me a cheque for 250K this morning for his legal fees.. Good to know there is some decent people left in this shitty world.. When this is over and he is out me and the family are emigrating... I cant stand this BS any longer.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Tucker, et al

As Eddieo just finished saying:<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: eddieo</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">I would ask you all a small favor. Then, when it all has been disclosed, we can all 'let fly'.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

I'm not interested in letting anything fly.
I just want all of the facts and then I'll probably want to know how I can help.

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

It's the same story in the US scumb bags get whats comming to them and the person protecting them go to jail. I do not wish this on any body but we all know it's going to happen again. when enough Judges ,da's and whatever have it happen to them with there family inthe house and they kill someone. Maby just maby things will go back to the way they were 30 of so years. Going to jail to protect one's family and selfhas gotton out of hand and those doing the prosacuting are no better then the thugs them selves. I am old and busted up inside but come thru my door unenvited and Rev. Colt will do the preaching cus i just dont give a damn at that point what the law says. If some of you don't like what i write and think to bad, my family means the world to me and always has. sorry to hear about your friend. MM

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

have just talked with my buddy's lawyer this morning. The only concession the judge gave him on the case was The In camera rule. It turned out that one of his kids, the eldest one had to give evidence via video link at the last moment. The law here states that when a child is giving evidence to protect their indentity the judge can ban reporting of the media from the case which he apparently did .. One blessing anyways...

Did manage to get some news on the persons who decided to prosecute... Guess what... It isnt good !... say no more..

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

What a shame for your friend and his family to say the least..With any luck the 2nd dirt bag will end up in the same prison house as your friend and he can finish the job...

Re: Buddy sent to jail today

Dude....u need to move over here to the South.....we still let people defend themselves.....case in point, today's paper...

http://www.macon.com/2011/01/14/1410199/man-shot-during-argument-about.html#storylink=omni_popular

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">A Macon man was shot during an argument about a parking spot at the Chevron, 1389 Pio Nono Ave., at about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to Macon police.

Gregory Wayne Gunn, 56, of Roy Street, told police two other men picked a fight with him about a parking spot. During the argument one of the men, 29-year-old Robert Ia of Virginia Avenue, opened the door to Gunn’s truck, punched him in the face, grabbed him by the neck and tried to remove him from the truck, according to Macon police.

To protect himself, Gunn grabbed his own gun and shot Ia in the elbow. Ia got into a van and went to The Medical Center of Central Georgia. When questioned by police at the hospital, Ia said he was innocent and refused treatment, according to a police news release. Ia has been charged with aggravated assault. The Bibb County jail refused to admit him and he was returned to the hospital for treatment. He will be returned to jail after completing treatment for his wound, according to the release.

The dude shot a man for punching him in the face over a parking spot argument.......man who was shot gets charged....not the shooter. Gotta LOVE IT!!
