Honestly, 99.9% of retail consumers want cheapest price over service. The days of going down to the locally owned mom and pop to get superior service albeit a higher price are in the past. Meeting and greeting to build a friendship with your local retail shop are in the past. Does it still happen, of course but its a very small %. If service was the #1 factor then all these small local retailers would still be in business.
Most of these box e commerce giants have a service card they read from, they are not given the responsibility to change and even supervisors are held to that blanket card. Its why you get low prices. Their model is to sell by volume, the few complaints do not matter, push them to the side and get on to the next guy wanting to dump money into the bizz.
Price savings is not saving when you have problems. Most times there are few but to the giants, its all about volume to keep the price low and the consumer spending.
Always and always open the firearm box, inspect it completely, try to chamber a snap cap if possible, look it over some more before doing the paperwork transferring possession. Once possession is transferred, you will lose in wanting to return a firearm. I am on both side of the fence but consumers do not understand firearm returns, you are not buying a coffee pot but a serial regulated by gov product that every entry in the bound book opens the FFL up to fines and penalties. And the retailer does not get a credit return from the vendor on firearms, the retailer eats the cost. Once possession has been transferred, chain of commerce dictates the firearm is used, never left the box, never been shot, its a mute point since possession has been transferred, it is a used firearm as the serial number has changed possession from the FFL to a private citizen.
As far as local shops not having want you want, understand every 30 days their bills come due and guess what, the vendor does not care if you sold their product are not, they want to get paid. Sorry to hear about problems with Bud's Gun Shop ... FWIW I've ordered at least a dozen firearms from them over the last couple years and have never had a single problem. Easy to purchase, fast to ship, period.
Bud's is NOT for a person who is unsure of what he is buying, or expecting to get all his questions answered.
Bud's is for those who know precisely what they want and do not want to any fuss/muss to get it.
I'm sorry if Bud's makes life more difficult for local gun shops, but that's competition and capitalism, folks.

I am glad to have Steve at colonial armory close by. I check with him for any gun I want. If he doesn't have it or can't get it then he will gladly transfer it from anywhere I buy from. He also usually has a selection of high end guns and gun related items in stock and his prices will compete with the online stores. I drive 45 minutes one way past a handful of other gun shops to get to his shop, but it is well worth the service and selection.
I quit using buds, but might use them again depending on how bad I wanted a gun. I don't like that they charge credit card fees. If you don't use credit cards they will hold your money for about a week before shipping.
Grab a gun didn't charge fees and shipped the next day.

Therein lies the value of an education. The got so smart that they lost your business and mine too. Some friendly advice... give your business and a little extra money if you have to, to someone who needs your business to feed his family. Memberships for the privilege of doing business, promote the kind of class warfare that would make any Euro proud. We have a grocery store in our area that did that crap. Gouged every non-member. Tried to order a Dan Wesson Valor 1911 from them a few years back and they took my money in 30 seconds and then I could never get a straight answer on where the pistol was and if they actually ever shipped it after being told they'll call me back with a tracking number. Never happened.
Went with someone else and never went back.
I can see if the price is higher without a membership yet you can still buy the item, but membership only stuff is usually a pain in the ass.
Simply put, if you can get it somewhere else for the same price I wouldn't have wasted my time explaining it to them after the quick response wasn't what you wanted.

I bought my very first gun from buds and had a great experience, it was around christmas time and they had a special on Gen 3 G19s with 5 magazines and a range bag for like $575 shipped. I Jumped on it and buds has had a special place in my heart ever since.

Bud's is a HUGE online retailer and by HUGE, I mean HUGE. Obviously, their will be dissatisfied customers, often through stupidity of their own, as the OP demonstrates in his post. No, not really at all. At Sams club, Costco, and BJ's if you don't have a membership you don't buy anything, period. Buds team membership is a joke, you can buy a lot of things withouth a membership and others you have to have the membership. It's also constantly changing what you can buy with no rhyme or reason about it. It's fucking stupid and quite frankly they can shove it up their ass.

Exactly. If you want to be exclusive, that's fine. That would be a purchasing club. Everybody who walks through your door is treated the same. I don't like places that split their Customers into classes. I walk into a store and the guy behind me gets a discount and I don't is another was of looking your nose down at me.
