So everywhere you turn... they're pushing the normalization of eating insects. Nova on PBS... new books. Endless pushing on TV, Facebook, etc.

My reaction has always been... "Screw that... my ancestors didn't claw their way up from the primordial ooze in order to subsist on crickets."

However, I have changed my mind after seeing a six-legged critter that I think is going to revolutionize insect eating!!!

Think about it! Extra meat? Six legs makes it an insect, right?

Heck, if they can breed a spider version with 8 legs... think of the extra roasts, chuck, hamburg, steaks, etc. we could all enjoy! Not to mention a boom to the glue industry. Look at those extra hooves!

I think we have found the future of insect eating. Six legged beefers. I am so for this!

i had one born 25 years ago with an extra leg coming out of the brisket in the front. weirded me out big time. he grew and was sold accordingly. someone just had an extra bone to be cut out of their brisket at dinner time.

Last night my 5yo grandson was visiting and sat next to me on the couch brought out his tablet to show me some show with kids eating bugs....
He looked at me and said I am not eating BUGs!!!
We agreed that it was silly.
We then had a talk about being lost in the woods for weeks and being hungry and then we might eat a bug if we couldn't trap a rabbit or bear.
But the indoctrination is out there.

I was in Guat5amala at a local market and asked a Mayan woman what the funny looking thing in the basket was. She smiled popped one in her mouth and handed me one. I popped it in my mouth and it fucking crunched...some sort of huge beetle roasted in chili powder. I just smiled, rubbed my belly, said thanks, walked around the corner and spit that shit out.

I have eaten bugs before. My wife is part Taiwanese Aborigines (her Dad's side). We went to a an Aborigines restaurant in Linkou. Stuff wasn't bad, but I'd rather have beef, chicken or fish. People will eat to stay a live so if it's bugs they will figure out how to cook it to make it taste good enough. That said I am set for the rest of my life with beef.

Outdoor and construction wear made from spider silk would be virtually indestructible...

I don't see anything wrong with people eating bugs that want to. Bugs been part of human diet for basically forever. Hard to argue the nutritional value bugs have over some of the other protein sources.

But the issue is, it has a feel that it's not going to be a choice. You will eat bugs and be happy. Being pushed first, as to why its such a great idea, then only to morph into, if you don't eat bug you some kind of terrorist, white nazi. Then it will be required by some type of policy. We see this same shit played out over and over.

Previous job of a QC guy we hired…

Worked at a jelly, jam, paste facility.

He was in charge of counting how many bug parts were in the product.

I forget the AQL spec but it was a lot more than we think.

Bet you won’t look at fig newtons the sane ever again

It is understandable that in the production of our food – some unwanted additions are to be expected. But, the minimum amount of “defects” allowed in food by the FDA might surprise you.

The Food Defect Action Levels Handbook by the FDA details the acceptable levels of food contamination from sources such as maggots, thrips, insect fragments, “foreign matter”, mold, rodent hairs, and insect and mammalian feces.

That's some natural immunity right there...

That's why I hated the hand sanitizer bullshit during covid, not to mention all the antibacterial garbage in soaps and such. Get some damn dirt under your nails and build a healthy immune system. All that other shit does is weaken it.

Shes got a little spectrum-ish crazy in her eyes at the least.. assigning way too much weight/gravity to certain stuff when at that age all she should be worried about is gaining life skills and finding a dude dumb enough to date her. Shame on her parents for taking advantage of a mental handicap to create their own little hippie lefty culture warrior. She'll never find peace or happiness on that road - a common theme among commie chicks, they're never happy and cant seem to figure out why
