bulk .308 brass

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000-20,000 pieces of once fired .308 brass that im not sure what to do with.
Most of it is Lake city, but then some winchester and and FC mixed in.

Is it worth sorting to sell, do people buy it in bulk not sorted?
I got it in an estate, and im just not sure what to do with it all.

Any help would be greatly appreciate

I'd suggest sorting it, then putting it up for sale here. See what people are willing to give you for it. There is some money/value there, but people have to know the details of what you have first.

I was afraid of that...
What about lot sorting, say "LC-11" VS "LC-10" VS "LC-89"
That could really turn into a project lol

I'm guessing there might be $2,500.00 worth of brass there, at 10K pieces.......

Go to Home Despot and buy $50.00 worth of cheap plastic tubs. Go next door to the Stop & Rob and buy yourself a case of Schmidt. Go home and start sorting........

Or, put an ad in the PX, stating what you have/think you have and see if anyone will make you and offer. In this day and age, re-loadable brass will be worth more than the scrap value. Besides, there's nothing open, where you going to go, what are you going to do ?

LOL, this is the kind of solid advice I needed!
Just wanted to make sure enough value is there before I spend a week sorting it all.

Jeez.....dunno. Why don't you do a quick "audit" of the brass, list what you see and post up an ad in the PX and just ask for some guidance and/or offers ? If you don't get any reasonable offers, you may receive some decent sorting advice.

Do you happen to know any of the history ? If any of it was fired through MG's it probably has crimped primer pockets and is beat up. Neither of which are good things.

I wouldn't expect that you are sitting on a gold mine, but it isn't scrap either.

Processed is about $35 / 100, non, just cleaned is 19-30 /100. That's mixed headstamp. Typically I prefer to have mine sorted by year but that may take a lot of buckets for you and for once fired mil, it's not what you usually see available. You might find it grouped by year on occasion, but that's not the norm in my experience.

What is it fired out of? Makes a difference. If the heads are all deformed from MG extraction then it can be not worth the trouble. However some LC MG fired brass I've gotten 5-7 loads from . Just depends on the weapon that fired it. If fired from bolt guns then it is worth more. FC has a rep for loose primer pockets after a few firings , so the LC to me if bolt gun fired is worth more. You've definitely got some sorting to do. Look at the LC headstamp. If it is match then no primer crimp and more valuable. How do you know it's once fired? I'm interested but any serious buyer needs these questions answered. Good luck with your endeavor. There still is lots of .308 guys out there and we reload .

I sorted several thousand today..
Seems like most is in pretty good shape.
I probably tossed 100 ish brass that look messed up at the base (guessing from machine gun )

There was a lot of certain stamps I’m trying to sort also... a Lot of LC 11, And a pretty good chunk of LC 89.
The rest of the LC I’ve just been mixing, hopefully it can sell like that...

We will see how picky I end up getting on sorting, I think I’m gonna need to round up some neighbor kids lol

Well, here is what I got sorted out for now...complete guess on pricing lol

Ive been spending my recent down time sorting through and cleaning a hoard of brass... Ive never sold .308 brass, so i'm guessing on pricing and open to offers. All of this is once fired unless marked "new" there is some brass in with the once fired that has already been de-primed. I sorted...
