why did my bullet impacts start hitting low on the target after the barrel got warmed up? i thought that the bullets would do the opposite......i never adjusted my scope...... any ideas?

Re: bullet drop on my 700

At what distance are you shooting and how much difference is there on POI. Each barrel can be different some change POI left and right, some up and down, or a combination of both. My two 700's have virtually no noticiable change in POI from the first shot to the 100th in a range session, at distances up to 200 yards. Moving out to 300 a very slight change and further out, say 500 more noticable, but everthing remains right in the money.

i was shooting my Remington 700 sendero sf II chambered in 7mm Rem mag. the rifle has no modification. distance was 200 yards. the difference in POI was around 4 inches 6 o'clock low which is far too much i think

Re: bullet drop on my 700

I would say a 2moa shift is way too much. What is the round count on your barrel? I would expect a barrel with say 5k to 8k could start to open up, and possibly show other imperfections in the barrel, but even at normal wear 2moa shift is odd. Could there be recent damage to the crown?

Re: bullet drop on my 700

i have only put a couple hundred rounds through the barrel. no damage to the crown far as i know. i clean the rifle after every time i take it out and i dont think i changed my shooting postion

Re: bullet drop on my 700

I would try bedding or making sure the action isn't getting stressed somewhere in the stock first. Then makes sure the trigger has enough relief. IMHO it would seem heat would be causing an issue like that before a 2 MOA shift in the barrel alone. Is the barrel free floated?

After that my guess would be flinching or something in the shooting position.
