I have a 338 LM built on a badger M2008 with 28" 91/4" twist bbl, badger bottom metal using AI mags.

using a OAL gauge and comparator I need to seat 300 grn SMK's .120 off lands to fit the mags. This seems like a lot? I am just starting load development so I have not loaded and shot at this seat depth yet? I will most likely start at touching and move back at .020 increments for accuracy testing but wow that seems like a lot?
I have some 250 grn Lapua Scenars that are a lot closer they would need to be .030 off to fit the mag which is more like what I am used to seeing. I would appreciate others experiance with this as the 338 LM is new to me? Thanks in advance

.12 is a very big jump. Are you sure you measured correctly. In my Sako, I jump 0.025 to fit in the mag.

Sounds like there are quite a few rifles that need to jump .120 .125" to accomidate the mags seems like most are using AI mags? I loaded to .120" to fit the mag today and then went a little backwards from normal and loaded 10 each at.090". .060"..030 and .010" just to see what changes happen. Of course I will have to single load but at least I willl know what I got ?
