Bullet seating depth on my 300Win Mag????

I just got back my new 300WM on 700 action. Had a McGowan barrel put on the action. Gunsmith did the reaming to SAAMI specs. I just tried figuring the distance (for seating depths)and using the Hornady comparator I am getting, what seems to me, to be a very long distance to the rifling....Using Berger 190gr VLD bullets the COAL is +/-3.744" and measured to ogive is 3.033"(+/-). With this depth, the shank of the bullet is barely in the cartridge neck, how much bullet would the general consensus say must be held by the neck??? Thanks for any input.

One cal neck / bullet contact, which is about all a .300 will give anyway.

If this rifle is for hunting, as long as it fits the magazine youre good to go. My 308 shoots 1/2MOA out to 300yds, sometimes less and the 168AMAXs are .070" off the lands.
