I have an RT6 that I LOVE. I went to order one online for another AR I have but they raised the price another 50 bucks since I bought my first one. I then happened on a local sale of a VXR Patrol which would be 280 compared to 350 for a new RT6. Obviously it's used and he had previously painted the thing but I'm not particular about looks. How would you guys rate these scopes? Is a used Leupold worth the price of a new RT6? I know they're almost twice the price new according to Opticsplanet so I feel like the used Leupold is a better deal.

Thanks in advance.

The RT6 punches way above its price point. At $350, consider to to be on sale from $600. :) The VXR patrol is decent, and if you don't ever plan on hosing or shooting fast on multiple targets, might be a good choice. The 1x at the bottom is imperative for me. Even at $100 for the VXR, I'd still take a RT6 at $350.

I looked at them at the time I puchased the Leopold and didn't like the reticle.
The Burris may work better for competitive shooting and if you are satisfied with that reticle style I would probably not change.
Just my 2 cents worth on likeing the vrx for hunting and paper plugging.

My 1.5x4 vrx patrol has been good for many years on an ar.
A good 50-200 yard choice .

You must of compared it to something else entirely. The RT6 has only been available for 10 months so it was not even out when you bought your VXR many years ago. :)

Im sure you know, but the used Leupold still has the lifetime performance warranty. If you ever have a problem they will fix it or replace it.

I belive that broken circle dot reticle has been in their use for a while.
The rest of the reticle may have been different in mils or moa, yes may have been a different model number.
I distinctly remember because i was looking for an illuminated scope and I personally like to dialup my corections instead of
Using the lines with my less than perfect eyesight, and not in a timed event.
I like exposed turrets even if light fails making it hard to see what I'm dialing i can hear clcks most days.

When will these manufacturers give me electronically enhanced clicks so i don't have to take gloves off in the cold.lol
They could make it adjustable like the reticle
I can't remember how long ago I got that vrx for sure but I belive it is over six years, perhaps a different manufacturer
Was using that illuminated broken circle dot
Sometimes i have had trouble on moving targets staying on the right line, or dot, when evaluating targes on the fly.
For example picking a cull out of a mixed batch of younger bucks and breeders because mistakes on that are bad.
I have not bad mouthed the burris, I believe it would be better to quickly hit multiple targets with.
I'm quickly evaluating multiple targets and taking only one shot.

It's all good
