It's a rifle scope, made by Burris.
They sell a lot of them.
They are made in the Philippines.
Burris is based in Colorado.
I prefer hard shell taco's.
They are tough a nails
Track very well
The glass is decent but not impressive

We have an 8-40 w/fclass reticle and a 5-25 w/SCR reticle. Both track well and repeatable. We haven't had any issues to see how warranty is but I expect it is fine. I wouldn't be opposed to having more of them.

I have three of the XTRII 3-15x's, the glass is clear enough that I never think about it or notice it, and all three track better than 99%.
I have a 3-15x and a 4-20x. Inside of 300 yards, the depth of field on the 3-15 is better. Both track dead on with a tall target test. Not any "wow" factor glass, but they definitely fit their price point well. Higher end glass will get you maybe 15 minutes more usability at dawn and dusk.

Fair FOV at 1x and 8x
Good turret feel
Capped or exposed options for both elevation and windage
Good light transmission

Heavier
Thicker reticle not great for precision range work
Stiff magnification throw
I sold mine for a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42 that has yet to impress me or convince me that I made a good decision.

Haven't any problems with mine I've got a 5-25 and last match my rifle slipped out of my hand waiting on a stage and landed on the bipod (perfect 3 point landing too) and scope never budged zero. I know optics quality is subjective to each eye but for me I looked through the shv, gen2 pst and xtrii all back to back and the burris just looked better to my vision
Um, Dan, you didn't mention your taco preference.
In no particular order:
Warm flour tortillas, steak, chicken, chicken w/chorizo and last but certainly not least is carnitas.

Burris was extremely fast when I sent my scope to them...... but- they didn't fix anything,,, so um--- I guess that's not good. But as far as speed- yeah, they got it to me fast! What is wrong with the scope?
Interested to learn what you end up with, if you swap out the NXS. I'm figuring out a mid-range optic right now, looking at the NXS, Trijicon Credo 2-10 (some good current threads on that), the Burris XTR II 2-10, the Razor Gen3 1-10, the March 1-10, and a few others. Got so close to pulling the trigger on an NXS, but I keep running across comments similar to yours, issues with eyebox, issues with parallax and focus, etc.

If a Schmidt or Nightforce or Razor shits the bed, then the owners are more than willing to make excuses for the scope.
XTR2's don't get that latitude. The reports on those are about as believable as Democrat poll numbers.

I have 3 of the XTR2's and an RT-6.
No problems with any of mine so far. I was responding in general to the haters above.
I have 5. One is 1-5 mil. Two are 4-20. Two are 5-25. I prefer the 4-20s but I’m not getting rid of the 5-25s anytime soon.
Burris makes good stuff, the one of the eight optics I own that had issues was fixed without question 15 years after it was purchased. The XTR's I have have never failed me.

The 3-15 is the sweet spot for these optics for clarity. I read issues with the 5-25 lacking clarity and brightness on the high end. I can honestly say I’m impressed with my 3-15 but the 4-20 exemplified the what I read before purchasing it. The top end is by no means unusable but my Sightron SIII and NF NXS completely blew it out of the water. And compared to some of today’s optics the SIII and NXS are slouches.
My 3-15 will be getting mounted on my FN SPR where it will likely live out its life. However the NF ATACR got the vacancy on the AI

Glass isn’t great at higher mag and really starts to show it’s weakness past 15x in my opinion. However to 15x it’s a decent picture and field of view, but after that the sight picture shrinks significantly and the glass quality shows it’s ugliness.
Scope feel in turret adjustments are mushy to me. Zero stop isn’t the best to set up but at least it has it. Durability and tracking have been good for me, though like others I know that they can have issues. I have had a few fastfire red dots go out on me.
Seeing everyone say that their warranty is suspect has me worried bc I have one of the 5-25 Scopes on a hunting rifle and I know that it will be continually abused over the years. Hope I don’t encounter issues. I used to have hope for Burris, but the XTRiii has just fallen short IMO and the scope market is to competitive to just not spend a little more and get a solid scope that has quality glass, function, and feel without the issues.

"Everyone" doesn't have warranty issues. By and large, Burris does a good job with their warranty work. These threads just tend to pull the people out and pile them on. And it doesn't matter who the manufacturer is. People complain about every brand. And your XTRII is one of the most durable scopes on the market at any price.
And I admit to some confusion. The XTR3 has great glass, function, and feel. And if there are issues beyond a few from when it first released, I'm unaware of them. As are the QC team in Greeley. Its not experiencing any issues.
The XTR3 is selling and performing fantastic. I'm two months and counting on trying to get one for myself as they work to meet demand. I would put it head to head against any sub 2k scope on the market. And have, repeatedly. I can't tell you how many MK5/NX8 guys I've stolen over. Including another one at the NRL Utah Barrel Burner this past weekend.
I’m definitely glad to hear that the issues people are stating aren’t the norm. I have yet to experience any challenges with the ones I have, but did have a buddy who had an Xtriii that he had to send back bc of a turret issue. He did get it fixed quickly but sold it not long after. And you’re right about threads like this pulling out those who have had problems.
I expect a few hiccups w a new product. I was interested the SCR 2 mil bc the .2mil grid reminds me of the AMR reticle that I run on my Kahles Comp rifle and I like the reticle for quick holds in matches. If the improvements from the xtr2 to the 3 are really there then it would definitely be an option at the price especially if the NX8/MK5 don’t really shine above. If you don’t mind, what would you say have been the areas that it’s improved the most from the 2 to the 3?

The only XTR3 issues I heard were right at release. A couple fuzzy lenses, a few failure to hold zeros. Your buddy's is the first turret issue I've heard. But everything has been nipped in the bud, the scope is rock solid and performing as intended.
Its hard to identify how its improved over the XTRII. The reality is the XTRII brought solid and reliable performance as its top billing. Glass that was ok for its price point. But not brilliant. The XTR3 has stepped up into every weak link the II had. The glass is excellent, as is the eyebox (literally one of the best eyeboxes of any scope) DOV is good, FOV is phenomenal and best in its class till you spend twice as much money. Its easy to tune out parallax. Its one of the brightest scopes I've compared to. Brighter in low light than the ATACR and Razor.
Its solid, its well-rounded. And for $1700, its a tough value to beat.
