Rifle Scopes Burris XTR Opinions - 5.56 100-500 yards

Hey guys,

I did all the normal searches... found a bunch of short touches but nothing too comprehensive.

Here is my situation:

Need to top a 5.56 AR with short-mid range optic for carbine and 3-gun. I used a rifle with an S&B Short-Dot and that is the ideal for me after spending time with it - but - I'm going through a divorce and dropping $2,500 on this optic isn't possible.

Shots will be 500 max and down to 10 yards close in. The S&B is phenomenal with the ability to act like a red dot.

After a bunch of personal research for a similar optic within reach, my short list is:

Nightforce 1-4 - $1200
IOR Pitbull - $1200
Burris XTR w/ Fast Fire 2 - $900

Obviously, given the situation described above - the less I can get in for, the better.

I've used Trijicon before and that isn't the direction I want. The SS seems nice, but who knows when I can get one. Need to fill the void in the next couple weeks.

i've been using that burris xtr for a few weeks now, it works well,i would recommend it for a 3 gunner just getting started

I tried one (XTR) for 3 gun and couldn't get used to it. The graduations are course as is the reticle. Dumped it! Now the Burris Fullfield Tac 30 1-4 X 24 with illuminated ballistic plex works much better for me. They also have the Ballistic CQ 5.56 reticle but I haven't played with it. They are very reasonable to boot.

Vortex viper, or even better the Razor could also fill the bill.
