Bushings to size entire neck?

None unless you like jamming your case necks into a squared corner.
The chamfer is there for a reason and the minimal amount of unsized neck left isnt a big deal unless you are necking down far enough to create a false shoulder situation. Which I doubt since youre doing 6gt and probably buying the cases already formed.

Funny this thread came up today. I just put this all to the test. Basically precisely what Spife said is all true.

I sized my 1x fired lapua a little "not enough" into my redding FL die and it left a little lower portion of the neck, where it connects to the shoulder, not sized by the bushing. Well I was worried it might impact groups so I went out and shot a 5 round group at 100 yards and it printed this .29moa group and that INCLUDES the cold bore round too:)

And this was just like 3 days ago.

They are tapered because some brass has tapered thickness in the neck wall. FC 308 brass for example. A tapered bushing will give you a straight inside. This will give you even seating pressure.
I’m responding from the standpoint of having brass that has been neck turned. I tend to believe that L E Wilson tapers the ID for the same reasons that Spife mentions. I’m not saying either way is right or wrong, what I am saying is that for all of my bolt gun neck turned brass, I run the buttons right side up, which yes, results in tapered neck tension from mouth to shoulder. Is it “superior” ? That one, I can’t answer.
