have a hand me down rifle with a bushnell banner 4-12x. at the top of the reticle there is a window that displays a number of yards. these yards change pending on what power the scope is on. for example at 4x it reads 200, at 5 power 250, at 6 300. the actual cross heirs look like standard cross heirs with another horizontal line a little above the middle line and a small dot half way between the two. also there is a window on the elevation turret that shows a yard number that changes as you turn the elevation knob.

dose anyone know how you use this scope?

i have tried looking on line with no success.

any help would be appreciated.

Re: bushnell banner 4-12 ?

I believe the lines are used for bracketing on your target. They represent a set, measured distance - say 18". When you zoom in our out on a target and the lines appear to be on your target a distance of eighteen inches, say from the top of the head down to arm-pit for example, then look at the numbers and that'll tell you the distance the target is away. Then you just dial that distance in on your BDC, aim (using the MAIN reticle cross-hairs), and fire. The thing you'll have to experiment with to find out is what distance or measure the lines apart represent. Hope this helps.

Re: bushnell banner 4-12 ?

apparently the two lines are used to determine distance to a deer. when the top line is at the top of a deer back and the bottom line resets on its belly then the window will give you the distance. then you dial that distance into the elevation knob and make your shot. when the scope was originally purchased it came with deferent turret peaces for deferent muzzle velocities such as a 300 magnum or a 308 style velocity. i am assuming that the scope has the right parts since i have no idea where that stuff is now.

thanks for the help
