i was at the range this morning and a guy had a bushnell elite 6500 2.5-16x50 and a 4.5-30x50 that he had purchased yesterday. for a bried second i got to play with the 2.5-16 and i loved it! it was crystal clear and didn't have any blurring near the rim. I didn't know if anyone on here has had a chance to look through the 4.5-30x50?? 30 power seemed a little "far stretched" for clarity but you never know... The gave the guy my number so he could call me and let me know how the scope tracked but we'll see if he calls. any input on either scope would be great

Re: bushnell elite 6500

I have both those scopes. Seems to me if they're bumped ya gotta re adjust them. Glass isn't far behind my IOR. But my IOR . I don't like to mess with tracking.

Re: bushnell elite 6500

At 30 power they begin to get fuzzy, up to around 26x they are sharp and clear. The tracking on mine has been excellent, not one issue in about a year of service.

Re: bushnell elite 6500

I have had mine for about a month now and it does fuzz out above say 26x but it does track very well. It is the 4.5x30x50 6500. Also the side focus is touchy as it does not have to move much to come into focus.

Re: bushnell elite 6500

thanks for the input. Im sold on the features and clarity and i like the idea of the 2.5-16 but the 4.5-30 power is very tempting but i don't want to throw the money out there (even though its priced more than fair) till i can actaully get some trigger time with the 4-30.

Re: bushnell elite 6500

I have the 4.5-30 6500 and can't say anything negative about it...tracks well, holds adjustment, repeatable.HOWEVER, I consider it more of a 4.5-26 that CAN be used up to 30x on clear, bright days.A NF it is not, but at that price I wasn't expecting it to be.

Re: bushnell elite 6500

I currently own three of the 2.5-16X 6500's. One is the "tactical" model and I did a little right up about it here: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...499#Post1744499

For the money they are a good scope for sure. I did own a 4.5-30 for a very brief time and was not to happy with it.
I was using it on a budget build bench rifle and at 300 yards I could not see my bullet holes in the target.
With my NF 22X scope the holes stand out nicely at 300 yards. So I would stick with the 2.5-16X.

I use mine on hunting rifles and to have the wide magnification range is what keeps me buying more of these scopes.
For close in work I can drop it down to 2.5X and have a wide FOV.
Or if I have a long shot and time...I can crank up the mag to 16X and be sure of my shot placement.

Take care,Stan

Are we talking about the 2.5-16X? All mine have 80 MOA. I believe the 4.5-30 is the same but not sure.

Take care,Stan

Re: bushnell elite 6500

I mounted the 2.5-16x40mm Elite 6500 Mil-Dot (Non-Tactical) on my friends 308 Win. LTR this past Saturday. I was very impressed with the glass. The glass was very clear and sharp at all mag. settings. My only compliant.......the elevation and wind age adjustment knobs seemed a little mushy to me. Now this may not be the case with the target/tactical knobs. I am seriously considering putting the tactical version on my 308 Win. LTR. I have a Vortex Viper 2-7x32mm on my 45-70 and the Bushnell adjustments seem comparably mushy to the Vortex Viper line.

Re: bushnell elite 6500

50 MOA on the 4.5-30, 80 on the 2.5-16.

The clicks in mine are soild thunk thunk thunk, no mushy to be had.

I can spot impacts on white targets as far as I can shoot (400 yds)
