Rifle Scopes Bushnell Nitro 3x12-44 Scope & XLR Rings 1st Impressions.

So I was one of the curious ones that read @Benders thread on these scopes originally and had to try one for myself. This isn't a technical review, just my 1st impression & personal opinions.

I ordered a Bushnell Nitro 3x12-44 FFP Deploy Mil reticle in mil/mil Scope from MidwayUSA while they were on closeout (not sure if they still have any) for $244 shipped, it used to retail at around $550-600 Before they went on closeout. Other venders have them on sale too. For the price alone on a mil grid reticled FFP scope it had me curious as to how it would actually be in person. It's a 30mm tube scope so I needed rings and came across the XLR Industries scope rings, they looks interesting and the price was right at $72 at Opticsplanet. I ordered them in their medium height spec. A week later everything arrived.

The Scope came in a pretty nice package. The package included a sunshade, flip-up caps to protect the lens, a lens cloth, reticle card showing all the reticles it comes in, and a warranty card. The example of the scope I received had the correct turrets ( a couple people on here recieved some with a windage knob where the elevation knob is supposed to be), glad mine were A Ok. The glass seemed pretty good for the price point comparing it against a Leupold VXR Patrol 3x9-42 30mm TMR reticle scope and then against a Schmidt&Bender PMii 5x25-56 34mm P3L reticle scope I have. It held its own about on par with the Leupy though I wouldnt say it was necessarily bettter than either. The reticle seems nice and easy to read and I also like the floating dot in the center. The turrets were tactile in feel with a medium click when moved but not as fine as the Leupold or tight and crisp as the PMii. The parallax worked as it should and the adjustable eye piece allowed focus to be found perfectly for my eyes. The magnification ring is smooth,not too tight but requires a firm grasp to move similar to the PMii and isn't as tight as the VXR, but the VXR is the hardest to move which took me time to get used too anyways. The laser markings are clear and easy to read where they are used on the scope amd on the bottom has the serial number and its made in Korea which I was actually happy about( rather see that than China imho). Overall, for the price and what I recieved Im pretty happy for now, only range time now will see if it holds up on my 6.5CM AR10.

I used XLR Industries scope rings to mount the Busnell Nitro. They were at a price point I wasn't complaining about and I know they make pretty good products in general. The interesting thing about them is they have dual telescoping pins on the clamping section, one on either side of the clamping bolt to keep them aligned while tightening them down. In the pics you can see what Im talking about. The overall machining, fit & finish was really nice in general. They have a integral recoil lug in the bottom of each ring. They installed onto my AR10 without a hiccup amd seemed to clamp down tight. Specs for torque settings were printed on the rear of the package they came in. I would recommend them after my 1st impressions.

Worked out great, seems to be on point tracking wise and the clearity and reticle are nothing to complain about. I want to put more rounds through it before I post an longterm review.

I put a 4-16 Nitro on my 22-250. I liked everything about it but the clarity leaves a lot to be desired. I didn't expect it to hold up to my other scopes and in the end it works well enough for a varmint shooting.
