Rifle Scopes Bushnell will not honor 30% off Elite Tactical scopes

Who pissed in your cereal...

I know it was my decision to buy the scope, but that’s before all of this craziness started and I was under the impression the rebate form I saw did not exclude ET scopes. What has made me upset is every bushnell/ vista staff I talked too told me something different and I can’t trust them for anything. I have been very happy with my HDMR and the DMR2 I’ve been wanting to mount, but Bushnell has just shown they have ver poor business practices. Frank maybe you can do something to try and help the guys out that are stuck with the scopes they got to try and help get their rebate because of your influence in the shooting community?
 
I also am out about $80 from shipping fees. It’s better than spending $2350 on a scope from a company that is a lying sack of s*#t. Gotta wonder about their “bulletproof” warranty when everybody I talked to told me a different story and to cut the UPC off the box and void return. F**k Bushnell!!

Reason? Like i said I couldn’t get two people from the company to tell me the same thing on the 4 or 5 calls I made. One told me that I would be fine with LE discount and rebate, different one told I would not. Another employee told me the scope was covered for rebate and a different employee told me it is not. Too many variables in the equation. And risk is not worth reward to me. I’m glad many of you did not have same experience and thanks for giving me a place to vent!! Haha.

I understand some decaffeinated brands are just as flavorful as the regular ones. you may want to give that a try...

Of course, it has always been plainly stated that the 30% rebate was not used in conjunction with other special offers.

haha, you should have seen me when I was told that the rebate for a free Tikka magazine had to be FILED by the end of February, not purchased and my rifle would not arrive at my FFL until the following week. I went on the warpath.

good news here is we actually have a Bushnell representative committing publicly to honor the terms of the offer as written.

it will probably be safer if we find the correct form and submit by mail, rather than electronically...
 
Like I said in another Bushnell thread, I was going to buy the LRSTi anyhow because it was priced decent at Liberty Optics, the rebate was a nice add on, but if that deal fell thru, not a big deal .

I don't chose an optic based on a rebate... It's a nice marketing/selling point, but usually optics stand out for there design and features, not price.

I wasn't able to submit the rebate electronically as the site was rejecting the sku, so I sent it via snail mail with copies of my emails of Bushnell approving the rebate and got this email today:
"Congratulations! Your rebate for the Bushnell 30 for 30 has been approved.

Please allow approximately 6 to 8 weeks to receive your reward. "

Update from this morning, I got an email stating the UPC from my elite hunter from gap did not meet the promotion criteria. I called and spoke with a vista outdoors rep who went through my submitted paperwork to verify I submitted the form that did not exclude elite series. Once he verified paperwork he issued the rebate and gave a time of 4 weeks for delivery.

Crazy, lotsa drama for you guys down south trying to get rebates. Up here in Canada I sent in the form and UPCs from 2 LRHS and 1 HDMR2 and got my cheques yesterday. Happy day.

This was exactly my experience this morning... I had called a few days ago, the gal told me that she would have someone enter the code manually. This morning I got an email from Vista saying the code was invalid and I should re submit.... so off to the phone...
Talking with another, he brought up my info, verified my form was the correct one that does not exclude the Elite tactical, and entered my rebate.

I went back in to the Vista Rebate look up and the rebate showed approved... so the $352 Visa gift card is on it's way...

A little bit of fuss, but nothing so great as to not make it worth my time...

More crap from Bushnell. Now they sent my rebate to an incorrect address in another state. The incompetence of these knuckleheads is at a new low. Turns out their automated system misread my form info. I was forced to use snail mail to submit my form since their online system was blocking the form submission due to the previous inconsistency on the rebate applying to their scopes.
 
This would be one thing where you could quite possibly have some recourse to either your credit card provider or to the FTC since in any case your purchase of the product was specifically tied to the promised rebate.
The FTC thing can take a long time to work out however, but they do tend to take a hard stance if enough people complain.


Credit Card provider will probably realize the transaction is between a gun oriented manufacturer and a gun user so they will take the money from both of you because - Obama, Holder, Soros, Bloomberg and all he rest of those assholes.
 
*****5/29/18 UPDATE*****

Bushnell Made good on there word and my Gift card for $353 showed up in the mail today....

And as a bonus, my $25 card for the RCBS rebate Vista had on my Powder measure came as well...

So a little bit of leg work and persistence paid off...
 
Got my card for 616.88 today. I hate cards, as we have already established, so I added the card to my Venmo, Venmo'ed my earnings to a friend and he sent it back, freeing it up to be deposited in my bank account. Win.
 
I’m glad Bushnell/Vista is making this right in the end for most but man is this a sign of incompetence running a promo. It really feels like if a lot of people here didn’t bitch, nothing would have been done. If it was just one voice, well piss off. I fear that’s how warranty work would go as well. I can get over a rebate. But I have zero faith their warranty system won’t screw me over and since it’s just one voice (as in the beginning of this thread) I won’t be buying Bushnell.

So a large organization (Vista Outdoors) has an internal miscommunication that affects their customers, their customers provide feedback, they listen, they course correct and take the high road doing what’s best for their customers, and somehow that makes them incompetent and deserve zero trust? Business is messy and shit happens. They apologized and made it right. If that’s not good enough for you, good luck...
 
Do yourself a favor and don't buy a XRS II, let alone any Bushnell product. They won't stand behind their word. They will not honor their 30% rebate even though I have the coupon from here

showing the scope is not excluded from the rebate. I contacted Bushnell, Vista Outdoors, etc and just got the run around. I even purchased on March 1st, the first day of the rebate, before they changed their mind about excluding the Elite Tactical Scopes.


I will never buy another Bushnell product again after this. I wanted to post this to make everyone aware and save you all your time, $750 bucks, and a headache.

Try printing the "coupon" off and mailing it in instead of trying to do everything online. And maybe REGISTER THE SCOPE WITH BUSHNELL USING THE WARRANTY REGISTRATION PROCESS. They're probably not "honoring" that rebate because of all the speculators out there that get discounts on products using website/organization "deals", buy them on a credit card, cash in on any "rebates" available and then flip them using online discounts, rebates etc.

Those "speculators" turn around and sell the product to a "friend" who registers the product for warranty and demands the rebate and the manufacturer gets "double-dipped" in the process. Even when the friend is the original purchaser just pretending to be the new owner and is doing things via "snail mail". And when those speculators get REALLY creative they then find "issues" with the new product and return it for a REFUND rather than a replacement. And expect a FULL REFUND AT MSRP.

News flash. There are far more crooked consumers than crooked companies and when piles of "new" products start showing up on eBay and "classified ads" sections of "enthusiast" websites it doesn't take even stupid people long to figure out there are plenty of "speculators" out there "gaming the system".

Im saying they seemed hesitant when it was a small issue to a small number. I am a small number. My warranty return would be a small number. They seem to have squared away the issue when many voiced their concern but I’m not many. If they said from the beginning “We will fix this” I’d feel good. But they said yes, wait no, wait maybe, wait no, ok ok sure. That’s not overly confidence inspiring. I understand issues happen but I also understand that volume is what gets attention and as one voice I have no real volume. So I’ll move to a company that wasn’t hesitant from the start. If that seem wrong then it’s a difference of opinion. I’m glad everyone seems to be getting squared away. I don’t want to put my money in a place that needs a lot of complaints for me to get a result.

For anyone concerned about Bushnell's warranty.... I purchased an LRTSi earlier this year, and it arrived with a stuck turret. I was also 7 days away from flying across the country to a major match. They overnighted me (at their own expense) a brand new scope the same day mine arrived back at their office. The replacement arrived, worked perfectly, and I was able to get it mounted, zeroed, and DOPE confirmed in time for my flight. I know for a fact and from personal experience that Leupold and Nightforce have a turnaround measured in weeks, not hours. I am thrilled with the support I've received from Bushnell and plan to remain a loyal customer. I've got a DMR2i in my future.
