Rifle Scopes bushnell xrs 4.5-30

I tried to search for a review on the Bushnell XRS 4.5-30, but the new search function omits the xrs portion of the search (im not a fan of the new format).
Has anyone posted a review on the XRS yet? Im gonna drop by the bushnell factory outlet tomorow and check one out, but would like to know how it is working.

We are doing a review on them at this time, hope to have it done with in the Month. I will say the Glass is a little dark at top end but that is what I expected.

I had the chance to stop by today and check out all of their scopes. The 4.5-30 seems great, the eyebox is tight on high power but i think that is to be expected of a scope with that magnification range. the turrets were nice and the zero stop seemed to work well. i really cant see a reason to buy a 3.5-21 over it for tac comps, you loose 1 power on the low end and gain 9 on the top end(though i shoot mainly on 15-20 power). the fde 3.5-21 looks nice. the 1-8 was pretty sweet, the only gripe i have is that i was inside and turned the illumination on full power, i had the scope on 1x and looked outside and the dot was not very visible, as in i dont think it will make a good dot sight. maybe the batteries were low. i loved the turrets though. the low profile was great, kinda wish they were on the hdmr line of scopes. i also checked out the 3-12 and 6-24 with the btr-mil reticle, i really like it, for a low/mid price range scope, it is great. i had never spent time with that line of scopes and they seem beefy and the turrets were crisp enough. overall i think anyone who does not have $3700 to spend on a scope should look at bushnell. there are many scopes with options to please many people.

Ok, I have had my XRS mounted up for a couple of days now and just got back from the first range trip. First impression, nice glass, clear, bright, no CA that I could tell. After doing a quick down the barrel/scope line up at 100 yards, I proceeded to sight the rifle in which took a whopping 2 shots. Complaint #1, The parallax isn't marked so it take a second to figure out what approximate range all the dots are for, not that big of a deal at all. Let me add that I sighted the rifle in at around 20x power as the full 30x can be used at 100 yards but is just a little over kill. Once sighted in I grabbed the instructions and proceeded to set the zero stop. It went something like this, push turret down to lock it, use coin (nickle works great) to remove the turret cap, loosen the 2 small allen screws, pull up on inner turret to unlock, insert allen key in hole in top of turret and push down till it stops, twist turret clockwise, tighten screws, replace turret. It took all of 2 minutes tops and I could probably do it in under a minute the next time, basically I am saying it is VERY easy. After reassemble I tested the zero stop and it is very solid with no movement past the set zero. I then decided to play with the longer range steel even though there was a 15-20 head wind. Checked my dope for 500 and after a first shot miss because of a bad wind call I was ringing the 500 easily. I decided to crank it up to 30x to see what it was like and I will say that the eye box is a little tighter but no worse than my Razor at 20x for sure, very usable IMO and was spotting the hits at 500 easily. Brightness was also good at 30x even though it was overcast out so no problems there. I must say the G2 reticule is pretty awesome, I was worried I wouldn't like it but that is not the case at all. It is thick enough to see it and the mil markings but the way the very center is slightly thinner makes it for me. After dialing and shooting out to 800 and back to 500 I can say the turret clicks have a very nice feel to them and not mushy at all. This is my first scope with 10 mil turrets and I had no problems stopping where I wanted or adjusting a single click. All in all I am extremely pleased with this scope and cant wait to take it back out for another spin soon. Would I still buy it if I could do it over again? In a second without a doubt.

Weird, I keep seeing the XRSs with the model written on the objective.
Mine is not like that.
I guess mine is the incognito variant?

As for losing FOV with the XRS over the DMR (or the new ERS 3.5-21x), it ain't much... the 3.5-21x tunnels below 4x, so the FOV is smaller in diameter but the view remains the same angle.

According to Bushnell, the FOV of the DMR at 100 yards is 25.3 ft., the ERS 26 ft, and the XRS 24 ft.

The XRS has no tunneling whatsoever, the FOV is inversely proportional to the mag power; 30x divided by 4.5x equal 6.666, the FOV at 4.5x is exactly 6.666 time the FOV at 30x. This is not true with either 3.5-21x scope.

I really like mine so far but I've only had it out once.

Have a stupid question in setting the zero stop on the XRS. When turning the inner locking cap, do you turn clockwise only until you hear/feel the very first click, then continue with rest of procedure?

Yes. Loosen the screws, pick up on the inner ring, push down the brass piece, turn clockwise till the click. Mine didnt take much, only a quarter turn or so.

Mine hardly went a 1/16th of movement and it really wasn't a click, but a soft thunk...

One of my small screws had a bur or something and wouldn't turn very easily. Ended up coming all the way out despite what the instructions said. I was able to get it to thread back in an set zero stop. Not sure if I am going to see how it does after another adjustment or go ahead and sent it in.
