Sorry for the newb question.....but I am a total newb to long range shooting. Will the internal adjustment on the XRS allow a 1000 yard shot without a 20 moa mount? I have read it will but....well I'm just not sure and the mounts I'm looking at spendy so I want to get it right the first time around!

What caliber? Chances are, probably.

Figure out how much elevation/drop your caliber/projectile will need to get to 1000. Since the optic will be near the center of the travel range, you need about 2x that elevation/adjustment in the scope.

The XRS will be siting on my LMT MWS 20" barrel, I have been told that with the right ammo the shot is doable......Still not sure whether to go with the 20 moa and live with the scope being .25" above the rail or go with the no moa and get down to .15 off the rail...decisions decisions...scope arrived today! so the mount choice needs to happen :)

I went with a White Oak Armament 20 moa base and seekins low rings on my ar15.

The XRS will adjust farther than most guns will shoot given the right size rings and base. I'm at 21 mils at 1850 yards and still have a few mils left. Trust me.... It was designed for a hell of alot farther than 1,000 yards.
