Rifle Scopes Butler Creek Caps on Nightforce pain in the ass

Re: Butler Creek Caps on Nightforce pain in the ass

I put mine on the highest power 22, straight up, then when i twist it to 11 power it is at the 9 oclock position. But if i turn it to 5.5 it's in the way also.

Re: Butler Creek Caps on Nightforce pain in the ass

I'm new too this problem as well with my first NightForce. I worked on the BC covers with a Dremel and got the lid to fold back a little more. I was hoping to get the to lay flat on the scope but it doesn't look like its going to make it.

I'm now looking for the original NF bikini covers. This scope was used and didn't come with them.

Good luck!

That drove me crazy on the NXS I had 3.5-15X50. Bothered me so bad, I went back to Leupold for a while before becoming a fan of the Vortex Razor. Maybe I'm just too picky cause obviously NXS are great scopes but it just bugged the shit out of me!

I will post a picture what I did with my bikini cover... pretty ingenious if you ask me. You will have to sacrifice half of your bikini cover.
This is the side where the knot I made holds the bikini in place. After I tied the knot I put superglue on the knot to hold it together.

This is the side where the Bikini hangs on the side. Love the idea and design of it. Not as easy as the Butler creek, but never has a problem with the rotating of the eye piece.

Re: Butler Creek Caps on Nightforce pain in the ass

I have a Nightforce on the way. I'm not a fan of bikini covers, preferring the BC's like many. Also, The NF covers seem to be rather tight. I am thinking of buying a set of Zeiss bikini covers. They have been the best bikini covers I have used yet. The caps are stiff so they go on and off fast and easy.

Re: Butler Creek Caps on Nightforce pain in the ass

Screw BC flip up's, they're cheap pieces of crap. I've broken them left and right, I know they're cheap to replace but its a pain in the ass them breaking constantly. The NF cover is great, tie it to the tube with some paracord and it won't go anywhere. It's faster to pop off then BC's because I find the objective flip up's to be hard to open sometimes, and you can put it back on quick too. It's also much quieter than BC flip up's which is nice if you hunt with your rifle. The NF cover just plain works, you won't look as tacticool as with the BC covers though. I'm ordering a NF cover for my S&B Monday morning if that's says anything.

+2

A lot of mucking about for a problem that arrives at your door already solved

Re: Butler Creek Caps on Nightforce pain in the ass

There are two things i dont like about Niteforce . i hate the eye piece turning when the power is raised, and i hate the lighted reticle cant be adjusted with out takeing the scope apart, makes it hard to adjust with changing light, good luck with fixing it. thats why i went back to mk4s cicne its all the money i have to work with

Re: Butler Creek Caps on Nightforce pain in the ass

crank the power ring all the way clockwise, then put the cap with the open part on the right side of the scope at about the 4 o'clock position, then you can crank it almost all the way back before it hits the stock. This is the only way to deal with it. you will get 95% of your magnification range doing this, but it will be off to one side or the other when cranked to the ends of the range.
