The TAG kit you have right now is great for a combat troop but if you are doing any type of stalk I wouldn't want to be crawling on my mags, know what I mean.

Nick sent me one for a comp to try out and like all his stuff it's built with the best of everything.
It would work perfect for doing a stalk.

I would keep at least a couple of different set ups to work with differing missions. When I was deployed (Iraq) all of our work was strictly in town (black-side). I didn't do one green-side, super-sneaky / snipery mission. For that, I just attached a whole bunch of mag pouches to my TAG vest (the one that goes over your head) and rocked out.
I've never been to Afganistan, but it sounds like there is a lot more opportunity for traditional green-side missions. something like what Nick is offering would be ideal for that I think.
What I'm trying to get at is don't limit yourself to just one set up, as it might not be ideal for the mission you are called to do. Oh, and I had to change a bunch on stuff while I was in country because I came all prepared for the wrong thing.
One last point: I don't like thick shoulder straps. If you have a flak jacket, some sort of vest, and a pack, you end up with like 3" of shit before you get to your shoulder and they're always fighting eachother. Now I use a TAC Ready vest from Rifles Only that is awesome.
Just food for thought man.

Any kit that holds mags, frags, radio, tourniquet, water, compass, gps, map, signal kit, NVGs and opens in the center and fits under your kit should be adequate. I'll get a pic of my stuff up in a few days. It's at work. I also add my sand sock, PDA, kestrel and LRF. My base is a tac tailor LCE.

LM, are you planning on wearing a jacket or a plate carrier or something like that? Maybe wear one up to the staging area and then drop it to move into the FFP?

Iv seen a lot of guys use 2-piece MAVs from tac tailor, or any webing style that can be opened at the front. Just un-bucle it when their prone. As far as kit for both schools and A-stan, they are 2 diffent matters. The stalking that you learn in a sniper school, in full ghillie, with just shooting gear and a rifle is a far stretch from body armour, helmet secondary weapon and ammo for both systems, and stano you will be packing overseas
