Perception is reality. People see he got suspended and automatically assume it's punishment thus they start to believe he actually did something warranting punishment... And the cycle begins...

This isn't political correctness, this is litigation-fear. Even though he did nothing wrong, and even though the idiot student should be suspended for frivolous 911 calls, it's all arse backwards.

What the hell is a student doing with a cell phone in class anyway?! Jesus, I used to get caned if I had sweets in my pockets!

It is though. P.C.'s goal to to put an end to hurt feelings and fear of others, right...?

The girl (for whatever reason) was scared/offended by the teacher's actions and here we are. P.C. run amok

Re: CA girl calls 911 after teacher rattles desk

Just one more ridiculous action that puts too much power into hands who have no idea how to not abuse it. Fear, decency and humility are lost on the youth and things such as this only help propegate the issue further. Now, every kid in that school who is a douche just had their "I can do anything you and you can't touch me or my mommy will sue you" line reenforced with reality. And I can't stand it.

Re: CA girl calls 911 after teacher rattles desk

When the gentry get tired of the government highjinks, they will revolt just a little. It will take another 8 years or so for the popular revolution to happen. Total time will take 13 years for an armed civil war or revolutionary war.
We are indeed in our revolutionary cycle, but it will be another while before the gentry get tired of the BS since they are the ones in the parliamentary bodies

HB, to be honest, I don't know what PC is about. Like most things that are mysterious and expensive it's probably something invented by a bunch shit-eating lawyers...

I always stick to the rule of it's not rude if it's true but you'd better have your facts straight and relevant. Keeps me safe from making generalizations and honest. Like Jamie said, what ever happened to common sense?

Far too many of our problems come from this very source. Mabey we should declare a "lawyer open season" til the pack is thinned out.

Re: CA girl calls 911 after teacher rattles desk

Discipline, what ever happened to that? What has happened to a screwup at school was twice as bad at home. To many parents believe everything their children tell them, instead of looking into it themselves. The removal of corporal punishment in schools was just the beginning.

There is a bit of a difference between corporal punishment and capital punishment!

Re: CA girl calls 911 after teacher rattles desk

I am very scared for this country and the path it is headed down. Apologizing for offending someone is almost written as law, as is a monetary award for ignorance.

Very true, although I would say that PC is really a product of overzealous professors and ideological youths/activists, not attorneys.

Common sense, became uncommon a while back.

I personally think people feel entitled to be offended and as such actively seek it out, i.e. people want to be offended as it gives them a cause to rant about.

Exactly. The stupid kid was probably asleep and the teacher's actions startled her.
School policy takes it from there.

It's really not a big deal.

I did stupid shit in the eighth grade, as most of us did I'm sure.

Re: CA girl calls 911 after teacher rattles desk

What happened to the days when t tearcher launched the chalk eraser at you for sleeping.

Or the days when the effectiveness of punishment was rated by number of spots left on your rear from the paddle.... Get with it!

Re: CA girl calls 911 after teacher rattles desk

LOL, I live literally 10 minutes away from Atherton. For those of you that don't know, it's a rich gated community with a bunch of spoiled brats that have never been discipline before by their parents, generally speaking of course. Not surprised.

It's sad this day and age. Raise your voice to a kid and expect ramifications. I'm not that old (27) but this PC BS didn't really take on full swing when I was in elementary school. But then again I went to a private school where the principle has the authority to paddle you at will. Ask me how I know. The teachers also embrassed the crap out of you infront of the class for scoring low.

Actually I believe the true fall of the Roman Empire was the sudden emmergance of Libralism which is the dirrection we are heading.

Reminds me. A doctor, a priest, and a lawer are adrift in a lifecraft surrounded by man eating sharks when they loose their only paddle. The doctor says i caint get it cause if someone gets hurt i can help save you. The priest says I caint get it cause if someone is about to die i can give the last rights. Lawer jumps in calmly swims over grabs the paddle and is escorted back to the boat by the sharks. Seeing the confusion on his friends faces he simply explained Professional Curtesy.

Re: CA girl calls 911 after teacher rattles desk

I work for a school system. You guys don't know the half of it. I was asked last Sept if I could buy a jamming device that would only disrupt the students cell phones while they were in class. No shit. Noone wanted to tell the kids they couldn't have cell phones. Everyday I experience another degree of how far our country is falling in the shitter.

Whoa major FCC violation there.

Isn't that the friggin truth! Wouldn't surprise me a bit if the parents sued the school for endangering the welfare of a child.
