Rifle Scopes Cabelas EURO scopes... any experience with them?

Cabela's has a new line of rifle scopes that boast 99.8% light transmission.

I'm kinda skeptical that they're any good, however Nikon Monarch only gets around 95% light transmission, so are these worth looking into for a hunting rifle scope?

But their Euro bino's are made by meopta and are TOP NOTCH !

They are the rebagged Meopto Meopro line. Good scopes, similar to Zeiss Conquest quality. I have one of the older Artemis versions and the glass is very nice. I have been using it on a 7mm mag for years and it has done very well.

The 99.8% is per lense surface. Gotta love marketing.
Even Zeiss wouldn't dare make that claim for their Diavari line.

Good scopes, Meopta's as already said. Meopta's are quite good in low light. Not Diavari's but then again nothing is, everything else it will rival in that department. For the money great scopes, I would not hesitate to put one on hunting rifle.

The 99.8% is dependent on each lens and, MUCH more importantly, the specific nanometers of light available in the visible range. There's a killer graph from a few years ago that shows how Swaro scopes have 2% more light transmission in the middle of the day but about 30% less when its early/late. On that graph the best light transmission for early/late wavelengths was a Bushnell 4200 Elite. Leupold caught on and started offering Xtended Twilight coatings. "Xtended Twilight internal lens coatings work to optimize the wavelengths specific to twilight conditions, making the VX-7 the best low-light scope we’ve ever produced."

Someday/somehow scope manufacturers will post the % light/color/clarity transmission through each product across the whole visible range. Light transmission doesn't equal clarity, color correction, etc.

While Cabela's optics appear to be good when they are new they don't hold up and their warranty totally sucks. I bought their top of the line binos a few years back. They were absolutely great for about 2 years. Then one day I had them with me while hunting in the rain. The binos totally fogged up on the inside. I called Cabela's to find out how to return them under warranty. They told me that ALL their optics only had a ONE YEAR warranty.
Cabela's has always been more than fair with me on everything else and I still buy some stuff from them.
Never again will I buy anything in the way of optics with the Cabela's name on it.

I and my dad have each had a pair of Cabelas Euro binos for over 5 years. Never had an single issue. Not sure how you can say the Meopta binos don't hold up because of your one bad experience. The Meostar binos are known to be extremely durable and handle years of abuse. There will always be a few that have problems, but that does not mean the whole line is junk, that is just what happens with every product. There will always be a few.

Also they do have a limited lifetime warranty. The person you talked to must not have been well informed.
