After a quick trip up to north eastern CA to drop some stuff off I went through Reno and stopped at Cabelas to grab a few items. Simple stuff that I could grab and get back on the road to beat traffic at the "spaghetti bowl".
3 things... Boot laces ( in the shoe area), a can of water proofing spray to put on the snow gear before I put it a way (in the clothing area) and fly floatant for the open of trout season(in the fishing section). On the way in I see those foam noodle things that kids play with and think I will grab two of those for the kids to use rather than sticks.
I have my route planned out so back to the shoe section.... as I am walking back this 20 something approached and asked if I had heard about their new travel promotion. Nope but can you tell if laces are still in the shoe section I ask. No answer but she kept on with her pitch. She was like a pit bull. Finally I realized she was pitching a time share program. So I interrupt and ask her that pointedly. After some back and forth she admitted that was the case.
More time was spent trying to break free than it would have taken me to get all the things I needed including those stupid foam noodle things.
Is it just me? What is wrong with you that you think letting the biggest time share company put a space in the middle of your store with 3 people dressed up just like Cabelas people makes sense?!? I talked with the manager, who has been in that store, long before BPS bought them, and she said they get a ton of complaints about the time share people but the owner doesnt care. Johnny Morris, the owner of BPS, should remember that it was not his savvy nor intellect that allowed him to buy Cabelas. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. If he loves the idea of selling timeshares in his stores then I cant see them being around much longer and I think it sort of proves my previous comment.
So......I didnt buy anything then and, after that experience, I wont be back in.
