Does anyone have any hands-on experience with the Caldwell Lead Sled FCX? I have one of their older sleds which I am thinking about replacing, they're expensive so would be very interested in any reviews before buying. Thanks!

I finally found a good use for mine.
It holds my damn rifle up for cleaning the bore.
I found it less than worthless for load development and or even zeroing a rifle.
Unless you want to lug the thing around while hunting or even at the range, why own one. It won''t do anything to teach you how to shoot or for that matter, anything that a bipod and a bag or a couple of bags won't do.

Interesting, so no good for zeroing which is all I really wanted it for. Maybe a more general question would have been whether folks are using any type of rest for zeroing a scope? I have been using a Caldwell Solo Sled which I think does help a little to remove some of the human error. Once zeroed, then yes, it's up to me to actually be able to shoot straight but at least at that point I know it's all me and not the scope. Appreciate the feedback!

Noted; I've always wondered if there was any consensus as to whether they served a useful purpose or were detrimental to developing good habits. I don't shoot off of one as rule but always thought they helped during zeroing; interested to see if there is in fact consensus. Side note; I am a LEO and equipment is often shared; re-zeroing to "your eye" is not practical or feasible. I have been in the practice of mounting the scope, zeroing it and then putting it into service. May not be ideal but it is what it is.

I second this. I use mine to clean my rifle. Thankfully, I got it as a gift.
