I have a Winchester M 70 coyote currently chambered in .25WSSM. I really don't care for the round and was curious what other cartridges would work for the action if I was to have it rebarreled? It seems like the action may be shorter than a Remington short action. A normal length .308 Win round won't pass through the magazine area of the action. Seems like a .223 or .204 ruger length round could work...
Anybody have experience with these actions and some option I might look at? Thanks!

Re: Caliber options for a M70 WSSM action?

I have a 25wssm in the Coyote lite that I bought on a whim back in 04 or 05 whenever they came out, I love it for SW GA whitetails and coyotes, it is a 25 06 in a short case, mine is super accurate, lite and with the B&C stock it points like a mod 12 16 ga shotgun, I have the Leup 4.5 x 15 vxlll with varmint ret. loves win 110 gr accubonds and 120 gr PEP factory ammo. Ive put a 1000 rounds thru it , only prob is ammo is high priced ,made a great truck gun.. To answer your ?, they make great .223, .204 guns BUT time you buy a bolt and mag , no joy there, go to wssm zone and sell it and buy what you want, I passed on a 7wsm Coyote Im not a big stainless and Laminate fan and the coyote is a little heavy for a walking gun. try the 120 and 110 ammo if you have not. My gun did not like the 87 or 85 gr stuff, none of the wssm stuff feeds good and my wssm and wsm pals did not like reloading it till they learned all the tricks, brass is thick! very best to U and be sure and check out the WSSM zone, used to be some great guys there, a fellow camo cat knows all the reload tricks.
