He sent the form 4 out as an individual though. Can he change it to a trust?

California's suppressor law is pretty simple: No.
The same law is also applied to most things you'd want to do with a semi-auto firearm.
Thankfully, though, bolt guns have few restrictions other than barrel length and prohibition of .50 BMG.
The last time that I read that section of California penal code it was/is a felony for a California resident to OWN any prohibited items, the law made no exception for the item not being located in the state. Your friend needs to go talk to an attorney intimately familiar with federal AND California law.
You can own them, you just can’t posses them in CA. When I lived in CA, all my fun stuff was kept elsewhere.

No way to own a suppressor in Kalifornia. I moved to Arizona from kali because of their draconian laws.

Not completely true. For the average person, yes. But with certain paperwork, LE can possess them and if you are in the business of making them and have all your CalDOJ paperwork in order for manufacture you can have them. That’s a major pain in the ass to get. Not impossible, but takes a lot of time and money if you just want one for personal use.
Well yes. But I’m pretty sure that’s way out of the scope of this thread. When I carried a badge in CA, I was only allowed to have a suppressor on my duty weapon. I still couldn’t purchase one for personal use. The only way to get one was to get a letter from the department. It’s a total joke. I was definitely not going there on this thread. There are always exceptions and ways to legally posses them, but the road is long and arduous. I’m honestly surprised surefire hasn’t bailed yet.
I always thought it hilarious that most of the biggest gun makers are in the most anti gun states. Remington, colt, surefire to name a few.
But we have nice weather. Surefire is probably looking at the coming 8 years of Gavin Newsom as Governor, and lord knows how many more years of Reginald Byron Jones-Sawyer Sr. and figures it's a no win situation for the firearms industry.

Would the safe deposit box idea work if you are on a trust and you are the beneficiary of the suppressors and you live in Illinois? My goal is to be out of here by then but just tying to figure it out.

I lived in San Digo County for about 35 years. Moved out of the state in 1993 and now only visit the family there a few times a year. I'd never move back. The weather isn't all that great, when you count the smog and drought!

I would not do the safety deposit box option. Failure to check it for a year or two, the bank may considered abandon and then confiscate it.

As long as the "rent" is paid on the box I am pretty sure they can not do that.
In doing a little search in most states the Bank can not even open your box upon your death without a court order.

I know some PRS shooters that live in Cali that have suppressors as they are "manufacturers", so they can posess and "test" other manufacturers products.
As ive said, obviously. But clearly an SOT, manufacturer etc etc isnt asking the questions in here, they already know the answer. Your point is taken, but not within the scope of this thread.
