Remington LTR 308 20" barrel. I went to range today and got these: factory Gold metal 168 SMK, 2632, 2634, 2606.

Reloads: 175 SMK, Fed Brass 44 grains of varget, 2553, 2552, 2555.

44.5 varget, 2587, 2576, 2585.

I was expecting the factory 168's to be well below 2600 with the short barrel. The box says muzzle velocity 2600, and thats probably out of a 26" barrel. The reloads seem about right though, right?? Just trying to confirm the chronograph is working accurately. Thanks

Re: Can anybody confirm velocities from a REM LTR??

Each rifle is different, but it does sound believable. FGMM168 and TAP168 both do 2678-2680 in my 24" factory 5R barrel. Avg. 20fps for each inch losses or gained... You get the point.

Re: Can anybody confirm velocities from a REM LTR??

That's probably right. My LTR low node is as follows:

168SMK
43.8 Varget
Lapua brass
BR-2 prmr
2.801 to tip, 3.231 to ogive with comparator (I don't subtract the added length of the comparator (just read the dial

).

Vel 15' from muzzle averages 2580 fps elv 300ft.

Re: Can anybody confirm velocities from a REM LTR??

I chronoed some Gold Medal 168s out of my LTR in May, average was around 2530.
Hornady 155 TAP averaged about 2670 out of the LTR and 2720 out of a 24" PSS

Re: Can anybody confirm velocities from a REM LTR??

bob, 2530 sounds more like what i should have had with the Fgmm 168's. I was getting 100 fps faster out of same gun. That seems like alot.

Re: Can anybody confirm velocities from a REM LTR??

178 AMAX
Lapua
2.8 COAL
44.7 Varget
Fed 210M Primers

2530 avg velocity from CED2. So your numbers are about right.

******This load was developed for my rifle, you should work up to it carefully if you so choose to copy it******

Re: Can anybody confirm velocities from a REM LTR??

Thanks guys. I know I bought a cheap chronograph, but I took a chance and it seems alright. Its less nerve racking when shooting my .50 ae through a cheap chrono, though. Damn is it fun to shoot especially at fruit or gallon milk jugs. lol
