I am debating between an Ultra 7 or 9 and cannot decide. I have a makeshift 7"/9" Can on my rifles now to see how the added length feels. I wouldn't have thought it, but the 9" sure does feel long at the end of my 26" GAP compared to the 7". My thoughts are that I will cut my barrels down to 22" if I get a 9" can. I want the quietest setup I can get.... Buuut I often read the difference between a 7/9 in decibel reduction is negligible on the same rifle. Knowing that shorter barrels can be louder, is it a futile move to buy a longer can for better sound reduction only to cut barrels down shorter for more maneuverability, which technically can make them harder to suppress, netting in a wash of decibel reduction and giving up velocity in the process?
I know I am thinking way too hard about this. Just wondering... I sure want the 9" Ultra... but it is pretty damn long! Anyone here hunt with a 9" can and a 22"-24" barrel?
