Topic title says it all.

I've had a few Larue products before, and they've been good to me, but I just have trouble believing detaching my scope from my rails with levers allows the zero to be held properly.

I'm probably going to zero my rifle in at 300Yards, and shoot out to a thousand. Would I be better off getting non-QD mounts?

Also, I was looking at at one-piece mounts. What are the immediate benefits of this as opposed to two seperate mounts?

Thanks!

Obvoisly if you didnt remove yor optics they would theoretically never shift zero. Any detachable ring system will shift slightly after being removed and reinstalled. I have been very impressed with the AI dovetail and one piece scope mount. The detachable rings I have used in the past (IOR, Leupold, ARMS) seem to hold within 1 MOA.

If you have optics that move from one rifle to another, or multiple optics for one rifle, it makes sense, otherwise a fixed ring will work better.

I got QDs to use my iron sights periodically. The shift from removing and replacing the scope is slight - usually around .6 to .7 moa - but it is there. In my case, it is acceptable. Using Warns FWIW.

I agree, the 300 Int match shooters remove and attach there diopters as a habit, easier to transport rifles that way,

even thought we are talking about straight rails and eye-hand measure to set it back in the "right" place they are still in the x-ring when shooting resumes.

Even though I don´t like it, this works, the better/straighter the rifle the better end result.

You don't say anything about your rig other than you plan to shoot from 300-1000 yards. Why would you even consider QD rings on a rig that shoots to 1k yards? If I took my Badger rings/scope off my 1k rig and put it on my 223 AR I would probably have it zeroed in no time. But I would have to ask myself what is the point???

Re: Can Quick Detach rings really hold zero?

No, not for match shooting.

My Warne set get me within a MOA (often far less). That's not fine enough for match shooting. It IS good enough to be able to remove the scope and put it back on to hit a reasonable sized target out to a decent range. Being able to remove the scope to dry everything out is very handy and I will be switching over on everything I can.

Re: Can Quick Detach rings really hold zero?

i have an arms mount on my ar that i take off and put on on a regular bassis, and i cant tell much difference in zero when i do that...i wlll be trying my warne mounts when i get home, had to take them off for a little to do some work on my rifle

Re: Can Quick Detach rings really hold zero?

My NF Boboro combo returns to 0 every single time I take it off and on. Boboro has the best QD mounts that I have tried so far.

I have Leupold QDs on my 375 H&H. POI moves less than 1 moa after removing/replacing the scope. I take it off everytime I put it away because of lack of room in the safe. Guess I need a bigger one.

The best route to most of this shit,is to simply prove things to yourself. "Break in" a barrel, turn some necks, remove stocks, scopes, etc. and see WTF makes what tick.

I've implicit faith in many detach systems,if only because I've done/seen so countless times.
