Gunsmithing Can you hand ream a 308 barrel for a bolt rifle ?

Well being that I've hand reamed a 30.06 barrel for an M1 with a pull through reamer I was wondering if I could do the same for a bolt action rifle.

Which bolt gun? You can buy short chambered barrels for some.

If you reamed an entire chamber with a pull through reamer, I do not want to arm wrestle you ever! I also wonder what the bore looks like after wards.

There has got be someone in the area who owns a lathe. Doing the whole chamber by hand would take all day! If the barrel was short chambered, however; cutting the last .010 or so with the pull through is a good way to go.

yea what he said, i have found the chamber finish is much better when hand reaming the last .010 also.

I know of an old farmer down the road that wouldn't hesitate trying it. He would most likely weld the reamer / or barrel to the PTO on his tractor so he could get it done quickly though. I saw him throat a barrel once with a hand drill. I think you are good to go.
