picked up an lmt 6.8. Took it to the range, tried to chamber a round, and it wouldn't fully chamber. So i decided to try and rack the round out, and it got stuck, and i had issues getting the round out.
I tried two different types of ammo, and both had the same issue. The guy i bought it from said it worked perfectly fine with the honardy i was using.

So i tried to diagnose the issue. I removed the barrel, and put it back in place. I measured the bolt to make sure it's a 6.8 bolt, and it measured correctly as a 6.8. I disassembled the bolt, and put it back together, to no avail.

Not sure what to do at this point. Possibly a headspace issue? It just won't allow me to rack a round in the chamber with the bolt closed behind. So my next step is to ask for some advice, and then take it to a gunsmith. Any help would be highly appreciated.

So maybe a stupid question but is the chamber clean?
I have shot a summers worth of ammo in a dirty ar.
Then on a cold day all that shit congealed and would not chamber.

Just asking because I have done it in 223.
Chamber not bore.

thanks guys, i double checked the ammo, and it's good. SPC. So i just tried to chamber the honardy, and was able to. Pulling it out put a lot of chamber put a lot of pressure on the round but it came out. Not sure what happened, i'll take it to the range, and see if it fires, and keep you guys posted. thanks.

I forget to use my chamber brush, in the winter it can get you.
Reminds me I have several ar's need cleaned properly.

Good luck.

So I was able to get the honardy to cycle properly today. It still felt very sticky on the bolt but worked properly. The other softpoint Ammo still won’t chamber. However, I’ll take this. Seems like the chamber is just a bit tight

No kidding or bs intended, have you cleaned the hell out of it?
Never had the problem till I decided to use my ar for hunting in the cold.

The crap they will run through when warm is not nearly equal to the small amount
They won't eat while cold in my use.

it was super clean, so not sure what happened. Taking this rifle hunting monday, so just in time!

chamber does feel very tight, but it shoots fine. I don't think i'll try to chamber the soft point again though, that last soft point woudn't chamber at all,and when pulling it out exploded gun powder in my receiver, bcg, and bolt. that stuff sticks as well.

After rereading the thread, sounds like may be a feeding issue.
If the rounds are different length and shape.
May try loading in the mag forward or aft and see if that changes anything.
The mag "lips" or follower could be an issue.

A picture of mag and ammo may help, there are some sharp people on sh.
