Carbon Fiber Barrels

I've got a couple Proofs, I like them. Getting ready to try a Bartlein CF. For long range hunting rifles they are great. Everything else you can do better with a less expensive Steel barrel IMO

Proofs are beyond my financial reach; which means precisely nothing.

I believe them when they talk.

My dream barrel does something similar in a different manner, no CF involved; less weight than steel, more than CF. (ETA: maybe not heavier...?)

It was made for about a decade or more by Lothar-Walther. I had made many mentions about it here up until about five years ago.

It was fabricated by turning a barrel blank down to absolute minimum dimensions, then mating an aluminum sleeve onto it. The mating surfaces had to assure full contact for the full length. It was expensive, in the $700 range, available from 22 cal on up to 50 cal.

L-W Ultralight Barrel.

It transferred heat very quickly, and was attributed with exceptional accuracy. If I had the money, I'd own one now.

The listing disappeared when they reorganized their website a year or two ago. A vigorous search today failed to find any reference on their site. If you wish to delve deeper you can use their contact info.

That actually sounds like it could be just as expensive or even more expensive to make than the current CF barrels.

What people actually charge for them is a different matter.

over the last past few day. Been doing some research about carbon fiber barrels.... I'm a Rock Creek Barrel Fan..... Matt with Pederson Precision. combo together. He is putting together Carbon Fiber Barrels. Accuracy Means everything to a Rifles with a Great barrel etc.

I got a Proof Sendero Lite chambered and threaded for 6.5 PRC by Straight Jacket Armory this month. I got it for my Curtis Vector action that I use for PRS but wanted something lighter for hunting, saved about 2.4lbs from my 6.5 Creed M24 barrel. I'm still doing load development, but it's a laser for sure. Once I finished ladder tests and started shooting the same charge, everything thing I've put in it has been half MOA or less --144 Bergers, 140 ELD-M, 135 A-Tip, 135 Berger Elite hunter. Carbon barrels are an investment for sure, but if I can save pounds and still have that level of precision, I'd do it again.

Interesting concept for sure! Have a buddy that has a CF on a Christensen rifle he bought. For hunting purposes yes perfect setup. Especially in a magnum caliber. But for anything more I would say at least the version you posted here. But for the money SS barrels will do. haha.

Pederson Precision, wrapping barrels from Rock Creek or one other place. honestly, going to go with his line up cause I like custom an being different. if it works it works if not there a 1/2 moa rule an you'll be eligible for a replacement.
