Can a AL resident open carry in Virginia? I have read that Virginia is a open carry state but not sure about non-resident. I'm asking this for a friend of mine thats headed up there for work for the weekend and he wants to be legal with his handgun.

Alabama doesn't require any kind of firearms course to get your CC permit. Just go to the sherrif, get the instant background check, pay ($20 in Marshall County) and get your permit. Some states that require a firearms class don't recognize states that don't. Time was when Tn didn't recognize Alabama for that reason but they eventually got over it.

I guess it's b/c of what WileyC said, there's no course requirement. Here in Jefferson Co. it's a whole $7.50/yr.

If your buddy had more time he could take a course and get a Utah license. More states recognize their permit. If he travels a lot it might be worth looking into.

7.50 a year I pay 25$ a year I fill f'ed without a kiss on that one. He does need to figure out something. He runs a gold wire bending and ring business. He and his other workers travel all over the place to Nascar races to biker rallys really anything that draws a crowd. They sometimes end up with alot of cash money after the weekend events.

Consider a non-resident FL permit as well. We are accepted by a bunch of states, though some don't accept non-resident permits (so check the list). My resident permit cost less than $10 a year ($65 renewal for 7 years).
