You might be surprised if you actually measured the chamber to the case mouth cut. I usually measure the max length then subtract .010" Trimming the brass close to length will save some erosion on the throat / leade. You can either make a tool for the job or buy one factory made.

Contstantly shooting short trimmed cases will cause the quicker wear of the throat.

If you're plinking steel at 100 or 200 yards it probably won't matter much.

If you're planning on shooting competition 600 yards to 1K and have a custom rifle & barrel, you might want to read up on the subject a bit before you actually start making chips.
