Case trimmers

Giraud with Dasher holder, or LE Wilson micrometer trimmer with Dasher holder if you don’t care about speed.

That being said my experience is that with 300 pieces of brass you can shoot out your barrel and not need to trim the 6BRA.

A cheap approach that works is the Lee case guage trimmer.

As long as the trim length is the same as 6br, the 6br case guage should work for 6bra.

If you are clever, there are ways to increase and decrease the trim length if you need to.

As mentioned the Wilson setup is nice but you can't beat the Giraud. I still have both but pretty much don't use the Wilson, kept it in case I get another 338 lapua

I'm still using the RCBS Trim Pro, it works just fine for me and holds good accuracy once set up properly. At first I was sceptical of the micro adjustment due to the fact that it seamed crude compared to the micrometer used on the Wilson and Sinclair trimmers but it is pretty much the same principle just executed a bit different and doesn't have the repeatability as far as reading off of an actual micrometer head. It also doesn't require me to buy a new trim body for every caliber.

One problem I have seen with the Lee set up is the pin on the end will wear down and distort with continued or high use.

If Giraud would offer the Tri-way trimmer in 65 Creedmoor I would be all over it.

Is the Giraud Tri Way trimmer (screw gun attachment version) just as precise as their standard plug in the wall power trimmer? Seems like if you already have a screw gun you could save a lot of $$$ and go with the Tri Way if it is equally precise.

Yeah, just a handheld motor instead of bench top.
Once you add more chamberings and more esoteric ones the full set up really comes into its own, a case holder is cheaper for each new chambering. You can’t even get a 6.5 creed triway.

My Giraud was the first piece of "go fast" gear I bought in reloading.

It was a shit-pile of money for me, and indeed, it WAS one of the most expensive "tertiary" reloading pieces on the market at that time.

I have NEVER regretted it. Best thing on the bench for time savings. I could dip powder charges and weigh them on a beam balance faster. Actually, I did.

Searched this out instead of starting a new thread.
For those who own/know:
Is it worth it to buy additional cutting heads (set for a caliber) for the Giraud, or is it a waste of money?
From the video it looks pretty easy to readjust the cutting head.

I am only getting a couple of case holders for the cartridges I shoot in volume.

For me it was worth it. I load/trim for everything from .17cal-8mm, with many cases having common calibers (.17Mach IV, .17 Ackley Hornet, .20 tac, .204 Ruger, etc.), so having one cutter adjusted for many body dies just makes sense for me. Plus, it's really convenient and limits lost cases in readjusting the cutter head.

In fact, when I ordered mine, I ordered additional cutter heads and body dies, and they came already set up for my particular machine. It was things like this (the attention to detail of a customer's order) that really impressed me. They could have just set up one die and cutter and tossed the others in the box, but instead set both cutter heads for me, and included a piece of brass for each of the body dies. That's first rate CS in my book.

I actually have more cutters than case holders now.
You can use some case holders for other cartridges, I use my 3006 holder (with two washers under the lock ring for height/trimlength adjustment) for 270 as well so thats one holder but I have a 30 cal cutter and a 270 cutter for it. You could trim 243, 260, 308 all with the same case holder. Getting a cutter for each diameter makes swapping between them fast and effortless.

Yeah, its easy to adjust the cutter but its not all that easy to adjust them exactly. Once I have it set perfectly I dont like to unset it.
