Caught the bug....Savage TR here and 40x coming

[FUNCTIONAL]

Well, the limited range of 250yrds was wasnt doing much for me and I wanted something better to train with. After a few weeks of research I decided I would pick up a savage TR in .22lr.

Savage TR (sale+discount from dicks = $350 out the door)
EGW 20moa base
Weaver skeleton rings
BSA 4-14 Mil/Mil FFP
Polished trigger + cut spring
Coldwell bipod 6-9 bipod?

getting 1/4" groups with Wolf Match and 1/2" groups with Aguila Rifle Match. Enjoyed shooting it so much I just so happend to stumble into a conversation with a man at a gun show who had a friend selling a Remington 40x .22lr. Drove out to NJ right after talking with them both to arrange the FFL transfer and bought a mint 40x for $700 OTD. Was 5 minutes away from pulling the trigger on a 10/22 for some fun and I couldnt say no to this deal.

4 weeks with 2K less in my pocket and I couldnt be happier!

I am not sure what kind/style the 40x is though...it has a bench rest style stock with rail the entire length of the under side ending just before the trigger guard, heavy barreled, and target sights. I will be sure to post pics when I pick it up this week!

Very nice! I've honestly enjoyed shooting my 40x more lately, than anything else I have! Enjoy! Be sure and post pics!

pardon my ignorance, but did that cheek piece come with the stock? Is that the Savage factory TR stock, color/camo too? Nice rifle!

No I had added the cheek piece. Honestly I don't know what it is though, it came in a trade and figured I would use it.

That is the factory TR stock including color/camo. The stocked looks like it was dipped and quite honestly I didnt know they sold them like this. I wanted black or Tan but it was the last they had in stock and I got a discount for it being a demo model.

Well, it finally arrived... 40-XR?

Matching bolt and receiver numbers. Came with a Lymns rear iron and a redfield globe front sight but I put an EGW 20moa (30moa on the way) and transfered the BSA from the savage over until I pick up a some new glass for it.

Havent shot anything it likes yet but have some Lupa/Eley on the way that seem to get the best results out of it

EGW 30moa 1 piece bedded
McMillan a4 or a5
Lilja/Kreiger/Rock/etc barrel way down the line.

EDIT: Also bedded/pillared the Savage while I was waiting for this...tightened the groups up quite a bit. Will get picks up of that as well.
