CCI'S 'CLEAN-22' AMMUNITION

Don't know... I do know that I've shot unknown multitudes of coated rounds through my handguns in USPSA matches over the 15 years I played. I shot at least 15K through my 2011 Triangle Shooting Sports .40 Limited gun without cleaning the barrel other than varsol at the parts washer tank with a nylon bristle brush. The barrel still had good lands when I quit shooting it. Moly coated bullets from David Long's Precision Bullets. Same with a 2011 9mm for 3Gun and .45 for IDPA and ...revolvers for ICORE and USPSA and IDPA and blah blah blah.

May be different coatings and YMMV but I think they are the shits.

I have about 400ish rounds of Clean 22 through my Savage Mk2 so far and I'm not noticing anything. I've cleaned the barrel twice now and no fragments or anything else seem to be on the patches. Bore looks clean as a whistle.

I shoot HI-Tek 2 coated bullets in my .38/.357's without issue.

To be clear... I shoot the blue tipped subsonic Clean 22's. They clock in at an average of 1040fps out of my rifle. They do seem to be noticeably cleaner on my rimfire can.

Understandable. They’re not exactly precision rounds. They’ve worked really well in my savage for now, one of the most accurate I tested. Crapshoot with .22’s though and personally I’m not willing to spend the money on Center-X or SK Match so this works for me.

what’s been the most accurate for you so far?

I have heard here that coated bullets damage the barrel. What do you guys think of these? Are they hot enough and fast enough to deposit the coat on the barrel?

Not even close. I've never once seen any tangible or credible evidence of coated 9mm, 40, 45 or now 22 damaging or even depositing coating in barrels.

The new Clean 22 is awesome. Those of us that have actually used it have found there's noticeably less cleaning compared to bare lead.
