I am about to purchase a cdi dbm and an inletting job. I was wondering if there was a link to a step by step install guide. Something that highlights what needs to be fitted, from what I gather I would have to shave down the screws and mag latch. Although seeing pics and a step by step instruction guide would be pretty helpful.

thanks

I was going to send him the stock but I heard minor fitting was required even after the inletting. Something about oversized screws and mag latch. If so, do the instructions have a section on those two parts and what needs to be done?

My action (winchester) and stock were both inletted by CDI, fitment was perfect for the action and the stock. Mag catch was the correct height, but my action screws were now too long, as the DBM has recessed screw holes. I simply filed my screws down, as they are very soft, and they worked fine.

Do yourself a favor just send in your stock to cdi. They will return it fitted 100% and perfect. Turn around quick is very fast 1-2 weeks tops. If you already purchased the bottom metal send it in as well. They gave me the correct size action screws that matched the stock/action to fit with the bottom metal.

You need a dremel and a fine metal final to take care of the minor fitting. You may need to trim the screws to the correct length if they protrude into the raceway and perhaps file the magazine catch lever.

There is a good writeup of the process here:

It is not hard at all, but if you think that it's too big of a PITA for you, you can always send your entire rifle to him and he can do the complete assembly for $60 more.

My experience, also.
