Rifle Scopes Centerfire/rimfire scopes

I’m looking for 2 scopes (must be the same) both for my 308 and trainer. Both have to be mil/mil and same reticle and ffp. Basically for prs/nrl22/hunting and engagements out to 800. Any recommendations? I was thinking about the gap deal Bushnells but was worried about throwing one on my rimfire. Budget 1k, 1.5k, 2k...

I’d go for the Bushnell deal. Or get a used nightforce shv (one just sold here for $900) and a new one and it would put you in the $2kish mark.

The PSTs go to 25yds but are clear to about 10-15yds but you shouldn’t be shooting anything much closer than 25yds

For the Rimfire: Vortex Diamondback Tactical, FFP 6-24x50, 30mm tube, 10 yd parallax. EBR-2C MRad reticle.

I don't think they have a zero stop though?

March F and S&B both have parallax that adjust down to 10m. But that's a significant jump in price.

SWFA 3-15x42 FFP is probably what I would consider one of the better 22 scopes. 6m parralax (roughly 18 feet), durable as all get out, with the SWFA reputation and warranty. All for around $600, it is really tough to beat.

I put one on my Vudoo 22 I picked off the Dog Valley NRL match for winning, and couldn't be happier!! My Vudoo is turning into one of my favorite rifles, and honestly sees approx 100-200 rounds a night.

Athlon Midas TAC , Argos BTRs have Xmas tree style reticles in mils, Bushnell deal is solid, vortex also good but think they stop at 50yd parlax.

My vote is the Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50.

It's reasonably compact and light weight for a scope of that mag range.
Has 10 mil knobs
A zero stop
25Y min parallax
One of the best, if not "the" best mil tree reticle out there with what I think is the perfect line thickness.
Has Illumination.
It has been a great scope for my friends and I.
$850 MAP and can be had for less if you shop around.

I'm ordering my 3rd next week.

Any of the SWFA fixed power scopes and the SWFA 3-15X42, all available in mil/mil and MOA/MOA focus down to less than 10 yards.

I have a 3-15X42 and a 16X42. My dry fire wall is exactly 42 ft from my "shooting position" and both scopes can bring the targets into focus without issue.

ETA: the above applies at maximum magnification. Like steve123 points out below, you can focus even closer at lower power.

Many of Athlons inexpensive offerings focus at 10Y. Less if you go down in magnification.

I've got three of the Ares 4.5-27x50 mil scopes mounted on custom rifles in 223AI, 6RAT, & 6x47Lap. All have served me well, and while the optical quality of these isn't quite as good as the 34mm Cronus or new Ares ETR, it's nothing to sneeze at either. I'd recommend the Athlon Midas TAC, but haven't gotten my hands on one yet - they do focus down to 10yds though. I'm planning on ordering several of these Midas scopes, both for resale, and to replace some of the older sfp MOA scopes on my AR15s.

Checked out swfa, site and scopes.
Swfa var's were more than I like to spend for a rimfire.
All of thier athlons were backorder but had nice options.

I want a thinner reticle on my 10/22 than my bushnell 3x9 ar tac has.
Eye surgery now allows this for me.
Was 109$ on sale when I got it. It's a keeper.
The tactical reticle thikness covers some of the x rings in rimfire target sizes.
But I do like the low tac turrets, and funcion of the scope for the money.

I looked at the Athlon series quite frequently. They do remind me of the vortex line of scopes. So I’m thinking either Ares BTR vs PST Gen 2

Wish I had some experience with the Gen II PSTs - only had a couple of the Gen I PSTs, and they were sfp models. The gripping surfaces of the Vortex scope's knobs are rather classy compared to the simple grooves in the Athlon Ares turret knobs, but the glass in the Ares gives a considerably clearer & sharper image than that of my old Gen I Vortex 6-24x50 PSTs. Not an apples-to-apples comparison, which is why I'd like to spend a little time behind one of the Gen II PSTs. But I agree with steve123's opinion on the Ares reticle - it's nearly identical to that of the pre-BTR Cronus, which I like very much.

Is the budget per scope?

Amg is a good choice.

I’m upgrading my PRS optic to a minox and my .22 to a Schmidt. Different reticles, but have slightly different applications.

Before, I was running amg on both with pretty good results.

As mentioned above, rimfire is all about parralax/focus. I attempted an nrl22 with a Minox Zp5 today and it wasn’t very fun under 40yds or so.
