It has been a while since I had any Cerkote work done, my LGS charged me $120 for this... does that seem in line with what you are paying?
I thought it seemed a bit high, however he assured me he gave me a "deal" and told me I was more than welcome to take my business elsewhere...

You didnt discuss the price before you had him do it?
No, and I totally own that mistake... lesson learned, well two actually.
Now that my suspension has been confirmed that I was over charged, I will take the LGS suggestion and take my business elsewhere. AND I won't just assume I will be charged reasonably, I will get a price up front.

Good grief... don't mean to turn this into a rant, but I got the repainted butt plate back and now it's gloss black instead of graphite black. This is the best part! When I told him it wasn't the correct color, he assured me it was the same, but the paint application varies in appearance due to changes in temp and humidity. He paints in the basement of an air conditioned shop...I give up.

I'm in no way, shape or form, defending the applicator. Keep in mind that prep work consumes a lot of time (assuming you do it). Time is money.

The difference(s) in gloss appearance have a lot to do with how much thinner an applicator uses. The difference in gloss between the "old" parts and "new" could be entirely due to differences in how much thinner he used for each batch, even though the color is "the same".

Painting parts and doing it correctly is more of an art than just hosing parts down with Brake Cleaner and getting out a rattle can. The guys that are good at it didn't arrive there by mistake.
