I recently received a CG extreme trigger for my remington 700, with it installed the bolt will not cock. As I close the bolt the firing pin discharges. I tried to adjust the trigger per the instructions, by backing the sear engagment screws back 2 turns until the bolt will cock, this continued until the screw's were almost out of the trigger. I have the first stage travel fully adjusted out per the instructions.

Any tips or ideas about what I am doing wrong? should I try adjusting the pull weights before I get the sear right?

Anything will help.

Thanks in advance

Re: CG Mod 22 Adjustment issue

Email or call Tom and see what he thinks. I sent my Tactical model back so he can lighten to OZs instead of the 1.5lbs it came with, that will take a 2 spring change.

Re: CG Mod 22 Adjustment issue

I have had a issue with a few triggers that we have received in. The .125" ball bearing in the trigger shoe would not fit into the counterbore in the #12 screw hole. If the .125" ball bearing will not fit in there, it will keep the #2 lever cocked at an angle and you wont be able to reset your trigger.

Do this. Take off the side plate. Carefully remove the trigger shoe from the housing with out losing springs or ball bearings. Check out the ball bearing to see if it sits recessed in the counterbore of the #12 location with the screw backed out all the way. If it does not, you need to take a new .125" (1/8") drill and enlarge the hole slightly. This should take care of the problem.

Re: CG Mod 22 Adjustment issue

Contact CG, had a similar problem recently and they told me that they had an issue with the safety lever. Sent it back and they fixed within a couple of days. Works perfect now.

Re: CG Mod 22 Adjustment issue

I contacted CG, so helpful, offered to pay for the shipping to return it to them to get it fixed if I couldn't get it. But Tom and I talked and he talked me through how to get it fixed and I got the issue worked out.
Thanks for your help guys, and a huge thanks to Tom and CG extreme!

Re: CG Mod 22 Adjustment issue

I had problems with my bolt release initally and contacted Tom and he sent me a new one and have had no issues since. Best trigger I have ever had.
