Did anyone notice a change in the 6.5 140 ELD's when they changed from the flip open boxes to the slide open ones? They also changed the stated BC. I use a Redding competition bullet seater and had to change the setting because they seated .030 deeper. Once I got them back to a mag length of 2.815 and measured to the ogive with a Stoney point gauge they are .020 shorter. Did anyone have the same issue. If so did accuracy or zero change? Finally got to a 900 yard range last week and got my kestrel trued to my RPR not sure if I have to start over again.

The BC didn't change since the first production run. The BC listed on initial boxes at .610 was the pre-production prototype BC but when the productions runs were retested they came out at .620. Then they stopped using an 800 yard average and went to the 200 yard average most companies use to give the shooter an apples to apple comparison. They must have change more than the BC posted on the box because at the same COL of 2.815 the length to ogive is .020 shorter on the new bullets. I haven't got to the range yet but my concern is that I will have to redo all test data I have with the older bullets.
What does BC have to do with a different cartridge base to ogive reading?
different box and lot means you need to find the jump distance and adjust your seating die accordingly .

Then you seat to mag length and re do load development, but you can now just moving fine or increments and micro tune since you already know your window

The tip color on the 140 eldm changed as well as the ogive measurement, but alot. I don't think it's just a manufacturing variance. I believe that Hornady changed the bullets a little.
The tip color changed from the translucent red to the more opaque due to not wanting to have a trademark infringement. The ELDs have not changed since they came out in the actual bullet itself.
If they have not changed the bullet, then the manufacturing tolerance is horrible. Both ogive and oal vary greatly from the translucent tipped bullets to the opaque tipped bullets
In my wifes hunting 6.5 creed hunting rifle, I prefer the AMAX bullets for predators and thin skinned small game like antelope. We run the ELDX bullets for pigs, deer, and a cow elk to 432 yards with one shot kill results.
I just got a bunch of the 140 ELD match bullets, Getting ready to load some up & do some testing, But I'm concerned with the variance in weight. Rob do you sort yours by weight for the match ammo? I plan on finding a good load then test the lightest compared to the heaviest @ distance & see what the 1/2 grain makes. BTW it's the new batch.
Nope never weighed any bullets. Just set up my load OAL and load them. Never saw any issues with long range accuracy. Have shot a lot of factory ammo at long range in matches and they did just fine as well.
