I recently bought a remington 700 adl and was looking to make some changes. I plan to get a 4-12 power scope (not sure which one yet), and B&C medalist 5 stock to install a DBM. I also plan to shorten the barel to 22". Anybody do anything similar and have any advice or opinions? Oh yeah, I aslo plan to use duracoat to paint the stock and scope a Desert colored brown. thank in advance!

Last I read, you were 14 years old. Given this fact, I would suggest you focus entirely on the fundamentals of marksmanship, as opposed to gear, color, barrel length, and optics.
If anything, I would recommend a family member of yours pick up a 22lr bolt action from the CMP, and let you apply the fundamentals at a 50yd range. If this isn't available, pick up a pellet gun, and fashion a target out of PVC pipe frame and some heavy canvas. I spent hours in an unfinished basement as a kid shooting pellets at targets hung on canvas, and it no doubt improved my skills into adulthood.
Get the gear out of your head, find someone to teach you the fundamentals, and practice the hell out of it.

+1. Listen to these guys. I remember when I was 14, (long time ago) and it was all about the "accessories" I could put on it. You have a good base platform, glass it with a decent optic, start learning to read wind, yardage estimation,etc. I'd also hang out with some reloaders, helping them, and you will learn alot by just listening. I read this forum for years before I even joined up. Don't do what I did. I bought a new Rem Sendaro, 6.5-20 leuppy, and shot 5 factory rounds and sent it off to be barreled. The gun out shot me, and still today 36 yrs later they still do. Be a Sponge.

I'll probably get "jumped" for this, but why a DBM? I love my BC stock but wouldn't you rather use that $ or gift, toward some good glass? Myself I'd rather have your gun the way it is, with a good moa moa /mil mil optic. Get to where you can out shoot the gun, before you worry about add ons. Shoot, shoot,shoot. And when your outta ammo, go buy more. A DBM or anything is useless unless you can hit targets out to 5-600yds. I agree, the gun needs a stock 1st, before you will get all the accuracy you can out of it. And a DBM would buy you a Lee press kit, brass, pills, and some powder. Slow down a little, stock it, glass it, and shoot it.AND HAVE FUN

Maybe this kid is ready to mod his rifle. Don't discount people's ability to shoot because he's 14. A lot of kids with good eye shoot better than a lot of adults.
As far as your rifle, do all the basic upgrades that don't involve much gunsmith work. Good optics, the stock of your choice, bed it if it won't hold groups steady, and maybe a Timney. That should last you a few years. Then send the old stick out for a new barrel/blueprint, DBM, and better optics. And get GOOD at 200 before moving out farther. Any flaws you have at 200 get magnified out farther.

Very true, it's your gun, set it up the way you want it, and not what's "cool". I tell you this 1st hand, because I had a custom build years ago in 6mm, and had it twisted the way "everyone" said I should. Hart 12 twist for 70gr bergers, trued and a brake. Don't get me wrong it puts 70g MEF's in 1 hole at 200yds, but 80gr was about as heavy as I could go. " Buy once, cry once" is a very accurate term. I wish I could go back to 14, and ask for more guns, instead of video games, and toys. Now it's the weekend, show us some of your shooting, I'm sure you will embarrass me.

Thanks for the support guys, I'm not claiming to be the best shot and i know practice makes perfect so i figured i could perform better with better equipment. I've done alot of research on each accesory and im set on that item in paticualr. the only thing im not able to find are what optics work well. i was looking to spend around $400, anybody have a good scope for that price that they would recomend?

I was also looking at the 4-16 nikon buckmaster with mil-dot. Its right in that pric range but wasnt sure how it performed

Nikon Monarch is a descent scope in that price range. Perhaps also a Vortex Viper (3-9X40). Burris signature zee rings (medium) or Leupold PRW rings should work fine on an EGW base.
I would hold off on getting any heavy duty gunsmithing work done. I recommend getting a Timney trigger. Perhaps a tactical bolt knob if you really want to indulge yourself.
I duracoated a rifle before, and it was a PITA to get all the prep work done and set aside hours to leave it alone and cure. You need to strip the rifle down and meticulously tape and clean it. It takes a long time to air cure. Now I just pay people to cerakote rifles for me. Krylon is removable. 8541 tactical has a good video on how to Krylon cammo your rifle. It's much cheaper and easier to go this route than duracoat.
It's your money, but I would wait on a DBM setup. Buy ammo, shooting lessons, training videos, shooting accessories, cleaning gear, etc. instead. If you're totally set on having a DBM system, save up and get yourself a AICS 1.5, a McRees, or a Manners mini chassis a year from now.

The Vortex Viper I run on my 243 in mil dot is .25" which gives you a better idea of reading wind, and doping your scope, and comes in pretty cheap. But I like all my leupys from the 2-7s to the 8.5-20s. If you were shooting BR I have a 10-12 yo K series Weaver in 15x, that's never been outta the box. Nikon Monarch does have some great glass. Go to a good store, and look through all the scopes, then buy it on midway for cheaper.
